With recent news of this tournament being in the works it will be interesting to see who will carry it in the USA. ESPN and Univision will be focused on the Euro so I think they are out of it. Although Univision may still be a little bit tempted because the time slots don't really conflict. That leaves maybe BeIN, Fox Sports and Telemundo (Although Telemindo will be focused on Olympics about a month after this competition.) Fox Sports had the Centenario TV rights in 2016 in English and it was a relative success. Maybe they would want it for Fox Deportes too. BeIN also has nothing during the Summer so they may swoop in. Of course it may all depend on who get's invited and accept invitations. It will be really interesting to see what happens as the months go by.
Breaking: English-language rights to this summer's @CopaAmerica have gone to ESPN+. It's another huge acquisition by ESPN+ in their growing list of rights deals in past 12 months https://t.co/xlGABtaSzB— World Soccer Talk (@worldsoccertalk) March 20, 2019
I wonder which in house studio guys they will have do it in English. Maybe the young guy Salazar and the Venezuelan Moreno as their main team? Do they still have Fernando Palomo? Also I wonder what experts they may bring in. On another note It will be interesting to hear Copa games in Portuguese. I am finally tempted to try out the Free Trial.
Since the games are on + only and not their linear channels, they'll probably just pick up the English world feed.
I didn't even know the Copa America had a World feed. If it is anything like the Libertadores World feeds it will be horrible. By the way, I just noticed that this is the wrong thread for this info. This is the 2020 Copa Thread. We still have no idea who will pick up this tournament rights.
