OMG... https://comutricolor.com/jugada-mun...IiowWlrD0mdvkkfPGhtG2_EJXLJi6JoLgVfElwJE2doI8 What do you guys think? lol
Oh wait, it's not a rumor anymore... http://mundoalbiceleste.com/2019/03/13/argentina-and-colombia-to-host-2020-copa-america/
That it sucks. I hate tournaments in more than one country and if we'll be in the final we won't play at home, so what's the point? And why the hell Argentina can host after they already did it in 2011? But it's the shitty CONMEBOL again...And it's a rumor until CONMEBOL will confirm it.
Pibe spoke my thoughts on the structure of the tournament perfectly. That said, I think we're still going to be defining our squad a year from now, so I'm glad there's another meaningful competition to work things out.
In some ways I am glad the Final would be in Argentina. The Fed would push for Bogota and we rarely play well there. I rather see the team beat Messi on his home soil.
I think this is Conmebol trying to play hardball. First and foremost, should at least be neighboring countries that have more synergies. You couldn't pick two more opposite sides of South America. But going back to my original thought, USSF offers a US$200 prize money to host 2020 and Conmebol who at one point was finding difficulty paying out prize moneys for the 2015 Copa can somehow do without this offer because of the history and pride of South America? The same Conmebol that were happy to take the Copa Libertadores final to Madrid and at some point considered Qatar to host and made millions extra without any real repercussions to AFA and/or Boca/River? The same crooks that were running amok making gazillions of dollars until some (not all) were finally put behind bars... nah, I think there's a lot more here brewing than meets the eye.
The problem is that they want to run shit. They should stay in their lane and show humility. Why then would they reject invitations to the next three editions? That’s the part that bothers me. There is no lack of money in South America, it just gets administered poorly and the black hand of conmebol happens. We’re corrupt by nature, time to change.
Would any of our stadiums get upgrades? It’s a little over a year from now. Not much would be changed in that amount of time. What is happening with the new campin?
From what I have read the only stadiums being considered are El Pascual, Estadio Metropolitano and El Atanasio. No renovations are being mentioned but maybe some cosmetic things here and there could take place.
At the start of the season the announcers at RCN said Millos wants to build a new campin and tear down the old one. Haven’t heard anything after that. Cali is the only team that owns its own stadium?
It wouldn't make sense for us to accept this co-hosting job if our country wasn't going to invest in the stadiums....
Yes but they haven't even finished yet and the playing surface is poor. What a shame since it's the biggest stadium in the country and one of the nicest, but they don't seem to give it much maintenance.
I am not an expert at construction but I don't know if there can be any major renovations between now and June 2020. Especially if they do not want to disrupt the season schedules of the teams playing within the stadiums I mentioned.
Can we be ambitious enough to dream for our 2nd title next year or is it not ok? with a little over 1 year.... can any stadium upgrades be made especially since FIFA might give us the 2023 WC
We have the team and the stadiums were recently done for the U20 WC. I mean it sucks we didn’t have more time to do bigger upgrades. Home field advantage will be nice. Other then a New Campin, better transport to Dep Cali stadium what really could have been done?
Group A will have Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Paraguay, Bolivia and and invitee. The other group will have Colombia, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela and the other invitee. The groups will be set this way for geographical proximity reasons. Official decision to happen on Tuesday.— Paulo Freitas (@Cynegeticus) April 3, 2019
I'm still kinda perplexed by the whole thing. If Argentina was really looking for a WCbid alongside Uruguay and Paraguay why not start there? I dont know why I get this feeling this will never take place the way they have it 'set'.
I guess we will know by next week. Looks like the USSF prez is going to make one last push to hold it in the states.
