Actually, seeing the stats, Paraguay has amazingly few faults for a team that plays mainly defense. It speaks highly of their technical skill, when defending.

Yea, that was another thing that surprised me. I guess because its more of a team defensive effort, rather than resorting to individual fouls to cut off play.

I think that the paraguayan problem is a physic one. Anyway I think that Uruguay starts with the advantage here, but we will see

I've known this for years from watching them play. Only thing that concerns me with the upcoming match this saturday.

    What do you mean ?
They are in the top 4 in number of fouls, number of yellow cards and number of red cards.

They definitively aren`t among the most clean of all teams. Paraguay, together with Uruguay ( also defensive), Perú (another defensive team) and Chile, they are the worst when it regards to fair playing.

What's interesting is that in stats refering only to number of fouls, is that the 4 semifinalists have been fighting elbow to elbow, who has the most of them, and they are at top of the list in regards to every participating team. Hurray for defensive, "dirty", style of football/soccer......

In their defense they've also had more games to amass fouls. But certainly defense won out in this Copa America that's for sure.

The fouls and cards for Paraguay are not concentrated in two or three players, like with the other teams. They are distributed. A very good tactical approach to defending, not having dedicated enforcers but making of every player a bit of an enforcer.

True, but if you divide the number of fouls, with the number of games played, at least in the case of Uruguay and Venezuela you have a mean of 21,6 fouls per game, which is only beated by Bolivia, who proportionally had 23,3 per game.

Uruguay and Venezuela are more 'leñeros' than Paraguay. Not just by the number of fouls, but the quality of them.

you can not call a player talented, when he relies on fouls and rude ways to get the ball back or brake a play.

    Congratulations Uruguayos!

Guess I knew what I was doing when I bet money on Uruguay. You were the best CONMEBOL team in the World Cup and would have made the final if Suarez was playing, and this Copa, you were clearly the best.

With the next World Cup on South American soil, you will be top contenders.

Good luck for the WC Qualifiers (except when you play us of course)
