https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2019...eady-add-different-element-toronto-fcs-attack I just have to share..... I love T-Boyd.
Boyd could make his Toronto debut tonight in the Concacaf Champions League against Independiente (Panama).
The last time he got a red was back in 2013 in Austria. Since then he's never been healthy long enough to get another.
He is doing so, and in his first great goalscoring chance, he blasts a penalty to the Moon. And so this thread comes to a close.
One of the worst penalty attempts you will ever see. Love the confidence to take it but damn you gotta finish those on the road.
Terrence Boyd seems like a great dude, with a nice personality. He is a bad soccer player, and TFC are not good. their front three were Boyd, morrow, and Dorsey. To compare with Atlanta- neither of those three would be in the top 7 of the atlanta team. Just a huge gulf in talent.
You cannot say a bad word about Terrence as a person no excuses for my bad pk & performance. this loss is on me. will keep working— Terrence Boyd (@TBoyd91) February 20, 2019
Question: is this still a thread because Toronto is in Canada technically making this an abroad team? Secondly, the loss was not on Boyd but you gotta like his ownership of the situation. Something that a certain former(ish) USMNT captain, who actually was a huge contributor to this loss, could learn from.
It's a thread primarily because we usually have a few tidbits that sneak in as a player finally transitions to a domestic squad (which I'm pretty sure we consider the Canadian MLS teams). Most of the time they don't close them because everyone loses interest (and it's off-topic to the forum). If it gets out of hand, the powers-that-be may close it down.
Headed back abroad? https://www.espn.com/soccer/soccer-...set-to-beat-liverpoolunited-to-young-defender 22.27 BST: Toronto FC and striker Terrence Boyd are in the process of agreeing to a mutual termination of his contract, multiple sources told ESPN FC. The move will allow Boyd to return to Germany with an unspecified club in the 3. Bundesliga. While family considerations are driving the move in part, Boyd didn't settle in Toronto after being acquired from 2. Bundesliga side Darmstadt 98 in preseason, failing to score in 13 league and cup matches. The forward's expected departure should free up some salary cap space for TFC, allowing the team to make another acquisition in the summer transfer window. According to data provided by the MLS Players Union, Boyd's guaranteed compensation for this season is $213,833.
and that's why it's good his thread was left open. but yeah he's not good enough for 2BL, so 3rd Liga makes sense.
Sad to see the impact injuries have had on his career. He was a promising player before his bad luck.
His time on the up and up was all too brief. He will always remain one of my favorites to see in the US jersey. Such a nice guy, with a real passion for the national team and us fans.
some more info. “Any potential (deal) is mutual and would be driven by a mutual desire to assist Terrence and his young family,” the club source told the Sun. “Terrence is a fantastic person.” His short tenure in Toronto has been disappointing to say the least. Though popular with his teammates, coaches and the front office, Boyd’s wife is also pregnant, expecting the couple’s second child. https://torontosun.com/sports/socce...fc-and-forward-terrence-boyd-set-to-part-ways seems like besides club form, his family played a big role in going back home.
And obviously our forward pool is no better now than it was when he debuted. He could've been really valuable if not for the injuries then and now. Totally agree with you!
