Tough match today. Hoffenheim were great in possession. He went 55 minutes, soon after Hoffenheim scored the go ahead to lead 1-0.

What happened here? He popped right into the lineup and looked good when I saw him. Now he's subbing. Any insights?

I guess they were down a man, and up a goal, so went with defense.

He's too good. Makes everybody else self-conscious and it's bad for team morale.

As long as it's not the knee causing trouble again, I think we should be patient.

Remember, the only ball he's been playing over the last 2 years is a half-season of D4/D5-standard ball in the Regional Liga before the transfer. Quite a jump in standard, which is often hard to maintain at the start. Allied to which, the coach may - may - have signed Cyclops as a rotator/tactical option rather than a first choice.

Regardless of the reasons for T-Boyd being benched, a truly heartwarming story about Darmstadt.

The club wore a special one-off kit yesterday without the shirt-sponsor's name in honour of inspirational superfan Jonathan "Johnny" Heimes who died after a 12-year battle with cancer, aged only 26. The shirt sponsor was fully on board with that gesture. In addition, the stadium is being renamed after Johnny for the rest of the season, dropping the stadium sponsor from the naming rights. Again, the sponsor is fully supportive of the move.

Sometimes, clubs - and sponsors - realize that the game's about more than $$.

    Full details here.

I'll tell you what, that is as good a reason as any to become a fan of a club. Also, I won't ever badmouth Merck again. That is giant sized philanthropy from Merck.

Answer is easy - Torsten Frings sucks. Don't know why people have to ask questions like that around here, answer is always the same.

Now this is a head scratcher. The guy they have starting instead of Boyd, Sven Schipplock, has not scored once in league play this season, and is terrible. Boyd got the chance to start a few (four?) games, where he looked a lot better and even scored once. But he's sent back to the bench and the other guy keeps starting?

    Strange.
