Boyd has moved to Austrial Bundesliga club Rapid Vienna. Good luck to him. Old thread is here: https://www.bigsoccer.com/community/threads/terrence-boyd-signs-for-borussia-dortmund-ii.1741733/
Maybe, like Hamdi Salihi, he can be a star striker, then move on to a better league and become a super sub.
I think the reasonable best case for Terrence is that his stay in Vienna is in lieu of playing a few years in BL2 before breaking into BL1. Let's hope he gets the chance and develops that way. He's got potential and Jurgen thinks he sees something in the kid. He needs work, though, and higher level experience. Hope he lights Austria on fire.
Best of luck to the young man. It's a step in the right direction. Now make the most of it and tear up the Austrian League! There are striker spots on the USMNT for the taking in 2014. The more competiton, the better.
This seems like a fine move for a young striker. A year or two here and then a move to a bigger league after a breakout World Cup in Brazil! If he's playing in the Europa League too, that should be good experience.
Rapid Vienna make the announcement on their website: Ein amerikanischer Meister für Rapid A 3-year deal, no transfer fee revealed. Boyd will arrive in Vienna on June 14th and get a few days of rest (after the qualifiers) before beginning his pre-season.
And you realize that Salihi often came of the bench at Vienna? According to soccernet in his last 2 years there he had 41 starts and 22 substitute appearances (league and European play), whereas at DCU he has 8 starts and 4 substitute appearances (math majors will note a higher proportion of sub appearance at Vienna, stats people will note the difference is too negligible to be meaningful) sorry to pour cold water on the snappy post
Good find, Scotty. A few quotes: Rapid-Sportmanager Stefan Ebner: "It wasn't easy to sign TB because he garnered a lot attention due to his performance for Dortmund's II. team and as a current member of the USMNT. And we are, as a result, even happier that he chose Rapid and signed a 3-year contract. The transfer fee will remain between the two clubs, and the contract will become official as soon as Boyd goes through the "sport-medical tests." --> will take place after he arrives on June 14 and before the coach Schöttel gives him, as Scotty pointed out, a few days off. Dortmund Youth Coordinator Lars Ricken: "We signed TB a year ago from Hertha BSC Berlin II a year ago and now he is playing for the national team of the USA. He is a further example of how a player can open up opportunities for himself through strong play in our second team. We wish Terrence only the best for his sporting future." Peter Schöttel on the new arrival: "We scouted TB many times at Dortmund and also got input from Andreas Herzog, who, as an assistant coach in the USMNT, knows him very well. Although Boyd is not a finished player, he has a lot of potential, is a robust player and should bring a lot of joy next season to the Rapid's fans."

As long as Boyd puts the ball into the back of the net, it's a good move. And with certain teams around the world trying to take more of a moneyball approach to improving their club, this is a great move. From what I've seen of Boyd, his biggest issue is his first touch
Salihi had a good scoring record for Vienna. Another player to come from Vienna recently is Jelavic who has done a good job with Everton and is the Croatian NT striker. The question is will Boyd get playing time?
It looks like they play a 4-5-1 and he is the 3rd striker on the club. He'll have to earn his playing time but he should be able to be first or second choice striker if he is as good as we all hope he is.
