I'm thinking O'brien could have latched on to a Superliga club with his record, but was convinced otherwise with a superior pay package from Horsens.
Well i guess you are right. He started in Austria and went north. I'm surprised he didnt just head to another league rather than drop a level.
Conor has started 18 games for Horsens this season. They are in second place in Danish second division, in line for promotion. Looks like Conor's dreams of playing for US national team are farther away than ever. Would like to see him come back to MLS to get more attention. http://us.soccerway.com/players/conor-obrien/167708/
With four matches to go, Horsens is still in 2nd, 10 points clear of 4th-place, relevant since the SuperLiga is expanding to 14 teams next year. I don't have any idea if he's actually NT good, and I don't know how much he's on the NT radar with the current staff, but he'll at least get another year in a decent European top flight to make his case.
Conor O'Brien and Horsens both made their return to the Superliga on Sunday, sneaking a point at Aalborg in a game they will be disappointed to have not won. O'Brien started in his traditional central midfield role for the Yellow Danger, and played the full 90 minutes. http://www.yanks-abroad.com/content.php?mode=show&id=11995 @bungadiri @Friedel'sAccent -- Let's give him a new title: Conor O'Brien at Horsens
With the score 2-2 in the 67th minute, COB had the last 2 assists for Horsens today in a 4-2 Superliga road win over Viborg
Scored on a header vs. Aalborg BK. He's started all but one league match for AC Horsens this season. Aabech kanonerer bolden på overliggeren, og O'Brien følger op med et hovedstød, der ryger ind over Larsen (3-0) #achaab #sldk— AC Horsens (@AC_Horsens) December 9, 2016

Conor was passed over for the January camp, not surprisingly. But Horsens is 7th out of 14 in the league at the break, and Conor regularly starts for them. But can't seen how he's better than many of our defensive CM options - Bradley, Jones, McCarty, Bedoya. Though I wonder how he would compare to someone like Acosta. http://us.soccerway.com/national/denmark/superliga/20162017/regular-season/r36663/
If the usmnt is a goal of his, he needs to move to mls to show that he's a better option than others in the domestic league. Otherwise, that call is never coming.
