    No.

Shooting someone is not the same as conducting war against a government, and what "Enemy" was being given Aid and Comfort?

No, this would be (potentially) mass murder, that's all.

Except on tv they said he was tackled and put into custody. Sounds like a dream on your part

    With gunsights?

Look, I have no idea if that is common or not. Maybe Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid's PAC committees put gunsights on political targets.

But ... if you have your name attached to a site that puts a gunsight on a politician who is assassinated, effing hell that's bad. Whether it's Palin or Pelosi or Reid. This country never ceases to surprise me, but I just can't see how a politician could ever live that down.

No this is not considered treason.

And just another random point on that subject - the standard of treason required by the US Constitution is notoriously hard to prove in court.

I don't think anyone knows how many suspects there are.

Are you ********ing serious? Why don't you quit being an asshole for a second and wait to see? And tying the Kochs in with funding direct violence would be pretty ********ing funny if it weren't so slanderous.

Did they put an "R" next to the congresswoman's name yet? They're good at that

Ahh, I thought her being an official Representative of the US Gov't would make a difference, with regards to making war upon the US.

Lone gunman (possibly mid-20s) tackled and taken into custody is what I've heard on several cable channels.

I didn't say everybody does it. The attacking of a Congressperson is very very rare (thankfully).

I don't think that only one side (as if there are only two anyway) is capable of it.

Again, we don't know anything about the shooter(s) other than that a Congressperson was among 12(?) shot at an event she was holding.

Right. As long as the emphasis on "speculate" of course. When you mention evidence, we are at this point talking about the type of circumstantial evidence that is only relevant in the sense that it might reasonably lead one to speculate that this could be a possibility. That's all.

But who declared "War"? A single person or even a small group can't declare war.

The person(s) who did this will be facing life in prison, if not death, if identified and caught. That seems like enough of a punishment for me.

Curious, where are you hearing this from? It's good to know where these reports are coming from in times like this.

Yeah, let's not assume it was political.

I'm sorry your ideology is disgusting and violent, but assuming this was a political act is perfectly reasonable. Perhaps it wasn't. But use your ********ing brain.

The fact that she's a US House member makes it a federal crime subject to the death penalty.

I think the only glaringly obvious thing here is that you're worried it COULD be a political assassination and that it wouldn't bode well for the reputation of you political party.

Oswald, Sirhan-sirhan, Mehmet Agca and Hinckley were all kind of nutty with political/religious viewpoints all over the map. Could be the same with this guy
