A Jewish, Democratic, female member of congress. I'm sure this was an instance of political violence, and that's disturbing enough. But if this turns out to be some deranged right wing nut, or if he's some mysoginistic nut, or if he's some antisemitic nut, then it will be even more disturbing. I'm honestly hoping it was just some deranged kid committing a random shooting. Somehow that would be easier to handle than a political motive. But mostly I'm hoping Rep. Giffords comes out of this okay. EDIT: NPR is reporting that Rep. Giffords has died.

Unbelievable. Does anyone really believe this was NOT politically motivated? When you have an entire "network" that gladly lies and demonizes people for purely political purposes and you have a "movement" to do the same, is it really reasonable to believe that there was no political motive? This is yet another victim for Murdoch and the Koch brothers in AZ.
Well apparently her offices in Tucson were vandalized after she voted in favor of the Affordable Care Act last March.
Part of me hopes this isn't what it looks like. And the other part of me hopes it is so that we can finally have a real conversation about the damage of the type of rhetoric the right likes to use.
Anybody watching CNN? Apparently a hospital spokesperson stated that Congresswoman Giffords is still alive and is now in surgery.
Probably no one believes it's non-political at this point. However, do you know who the shooter is? Or his motivations? Or what he shouted before opening fire? Or after he was shot & arrested? If not, stop blaming others, until there are some facts on which to base your opinions.
Only people unwilling or unable to come to terms with the fact that this was an obvious political assassination.
