Whatever your opinion, it's certainly an honor for her and we're all rooting for the WNT to be an inspiring success going forward!! I thought that deserved it's own thread.
It's funny. Everyone had worked themselves into a tizzy over this announcement that when it finally happened, this place is quieter than a cementery at night. Or maybe we have good through all 12-steps and now every one is at the acceptance stage.
well, it's not like US Soccer was dumb enough to let her be interviewed or anything...do you want to merge this with sisterluke's thread? Also, what is there to say, other than "wow, the fed REALLY wants the WNT program to fail and they've totally given up pretending."
Is he serious or mocking Gulati??? Congratulations to Jill Ellis. Delighted to have an American Coach again. Good luck WNT as they prepare for Canada 2015!— The Tony DiCicco Collection (@tonysocc) May 16, 2014
I'm not talking about that. I'm referring to the part about her being "American". She is British. For one thing, I do not have any opinion about Ellis one way or the other as I'm not familiar with her work so if you'll notice, I've stayed away from that side of the discussion. I do love watching people overreact here and on twitter though.
Traditionally, if big news is dropped is on a Friday(Friday News Dump), it's because the folks responsible, don't want to want to generate much scrutiny about said issue. But Twitter and social media make that virtually impossible these days.. Jill is a naturalized citizen, so yes, she is an 'Merican...
Well that article is mostly a list of her accomplishments (or lack there off). That is something if I'm not being lazy I could get from wikipedia. What I'm more interested in is her coaching style, phylosophy, approach and what not. I'll take a back seat and see what she does in the upcoming matches against France. These games could not have been more timely in my opinion.
The only tournaments that matter. Yes, she is not cut out for competing with Germany, Japan, and Brazil. Just no. Horrid decision. And I thought US Soccer was finally beginning to rid itself of incestuousness.
Horrible decision. She has won nothing in the past. This whole fiasco from the firing of Sermanni to Jill's hiring has a rotten smell to it. Who I feel sorry for is the kids who will never get a serious chance to play for the USWNT. Ellis will play her favorites and kids like Mewis, Hagen, Horan won't see the pitch. The old has-beens will continue to dominate the roster and we will get nowhere with development. Leroux will now be force-fed to everyone and Press will sit the bench. I also see a downturn for Alex Morgan. Jill, in my opinion will try to push her favorite, Leroux over everyone else. I will support the USWNT, but am very disappointed with how everything went down in the last couple of months.
i actually like that we get this coach, things will become more interesting, and matches will no longer be with a spoiler that usa wins as always
