I seriously don't see the purpose in this at all other then the USSF is going after the $$$$ again. Oh well I'll watch this game but I'm expecting a win here at all.

Considering this is a friendly right before the EU season, I can see quite a few big names missing out, plus MLS will be in the playoff hunt so who know what this squad will look like.

No way should he get fired over a friendly even if it is against Mexico.

    Nope.

This game has nothing to do with BB and everything to do with $$$$, I really don't see the point of this game at all it's a total waste of time.

pro: we can test some new players

con: there is no positive outcome from this match for the team. we win, well we didn't win when it counted. we lose, it's salt in the wound.

Still, can't help but name my line-up.

*will have to wait till Sep/Oct for Guzan, Yelldell, Hahnemann, Chandler, Lichaj, Onyewu, D. Williams, Bradley, Jones, Spector, Whitbread, Cherundolo, Altidore. i probably would include Kljestan in this list too. they're in critical stages of their career (or at least at a new club or injured) and would leave them alone. i would call up a U-23 friendly line-up though.

    Why?

We'll get to see some of the young guns on the field.

They are related. Bradley is the coach because he will put up the blatant short sighted money chasing of US Soccer. I doubt that most coaches would have put up with the fact the only game in the lead up to the Gold Cup was vs Spain 3 days before the US started the tournament.

With the way the US attack is right now, they should be more accurately described as young holsters.

There is no reason to have this friendly. It's a mistake. Both MLS and Yanks Abroad are occupied.

    This is a joke, right?

Who is going to play in this match? BB's least favorite players? Torres, Hercules, Beasley (and possibly Beckermann?) if their Mexican clubs say OK.
I guess BB will beg Donovan to play. And pray tell who will he put in the backfield that isn't occupied with what they have to do for their career?
I know Hahnemann is the goalie.

I am going to burn the Union fans & the Sons of Ben/The Illegitimates that they haven't started a thread on this. But it appears that the US is turning to have 4 home fields. DC, Philly, Chicago, & LA. 3 games in LA within the last year, and 3 games in Philly wihtin the last year and 2 months.

Not expecting every top player for either side. European club teams will have games the weekend before and after so we'll see who shows up. If they're going to do friendlies like this I wish they were during the longer international break where they could bring everybody in. But I guess it's a chance for each team to bring fresh blood in.

I agree with the many who have written that this game makes no sense, except for making money.

Euro players should have another focus at this time. MLS players should have another focus.

Mexico just played in 2 tournaments this summer.

In general, I love the tougher opponents the US has been schedualing, but this match smells.

I f*cking hate this. It's just a money grab. If we lose to them it is that much worse, and if we win, it will not erase any of the pain of The Gold Cup Final. We stand nothing to gain here, except money.. And we fans who arguably care more than anybody else don't see any of the cash anyway, which will be completely squandered by US Soccer. That much is clear to me now.

Play a young team at least. If I have to watch Donovan and Bocanegra trot out against Mexico in an utterly worthless friendly I think I may actually throw up.
