The transcript of what Jose said about his current situation and future at United, during his press conference ahead of the game vs Benfica. www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/man-utd-news-jose-mourinho-13774730 Don't doubt that he wants a raise and probably become the highest paid manager there is, which he can become at United btw. He definitely will be in a better/optimal position to make such demand at the end of the season, provided the team is successful. United is his dream job and while he will not stick around for that long, it stands to reason he wants to stay beyond his original 3yr deal. Always maintained if he could somehow make it to 5, it would be more than anyone could hope for. His great desire to really make his mark at the club could actually help make that possible.
agreed. the problem is that it doesn't matter how much it is highlighted his immediate counter argument would be to point to his medal collection. that kind of record will only suffice IF we can follow the 2008/09 model and we put away the rest of the bottom 14 home and away. huge IF for me though
Isn't that the key point, that Mourinho plans on putting away the rest of the bottom 14 home and away? Sure, that's a huge IF but it's much more likely that we'll put away West Ham and Huddersfield away than Liverpool away, especially when three of our key players --- Pogba, Bailly and Fellaini -- are all out injured. We'll need at least 2-3 wins somewhere in the 10 matches we'll play against the other top 6 clubs (it's basically two leagues, the top 6 and the bottom 14) and it's fair to argue that Liverpool away should have been one of those wins, but under the circumstances -- returning from the international break and being without three regular starters getting a win at Anfield was always going to be a difficult task. Mourinho made the right tactical call in going for the draw. It's a pretty safe bet he won't go for the draw against Huddersfield. If, a big IF, we can take 78-80 points from the 84 available from the 14 clubs we'll face home and away our chances of lifting the EPL trophy are pretty decent. Last season where we fell apart wasn't against Liverpool and the like but against the bottom 14 clubs. So far this season, so good against the bottom 14 clubs.

CL Group A after 3 games: United 9 points Basel 6 points Moscow 3 points Benfica 0 points With half our group play behind us, we've effectively locked up first place. True, we're in second place in the EPL to City but that's not a serious concern right now, still only mid-October. Mourinho deserves praise for turning around a club which could barely put on its boots under Van Gaal and is now a reasonable shout to win the EPL this season and quite easily make the first knockout round.

Jose plays down his feud with Conte. www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/11090171/jose-mourinho-plays-down-spat-with-chelsea-manager-antonio-conte Just cooling it for now, nothing more IMO. Jose is a guy who picks his spots and would not be surprised if there's a flare up soon. Especially the closer they get to playing one another.
His timing is quite bizarre right after the worst performance of the season. And woody of course gets a lot of credit from the Glazers for moving United back to the top of the pile (financially) while they were having a ''mare on the pitch.

"They don't really play with the same fluidity as Spurs or Man City. They build up quite slow," Huddersfield's Tom Ince said after the game. He's not wrong. You watch Spurs yesterday, that's how you counter attack. For me, it's another sign of how much we miss Pogba. A Matic Herrera midfield ain't going to do much.
Mourinho will keep winning trophies and produce winning teams - Phelan www.skysports.com/football/news/11667/11097709/manchester-united-manager-jose-mourinho-will-continue-to-produce-winning-teams-says-mike-phelan
We're missing a player of Griezmann's quality to pull it all together, aren't we? Miki came to OT with high expectations and he's a solid player, but he's simply not in Griezmann's class. We all appreciate what Lingard did yesterday, but he's simply not in Griezmann's class either. Mata is another solid squad player, but he's simply not in Griezmann's class either. We've got a great keeper and a pretty decent set of CBs. We're a bit wobbly on fullbacks but we shouldn't complain too much. Pogba and Matic, check. Herrera as a utility man, check. Lukaku (and soon Ibra), check. No complaints at all with Martial and Rashford. But what we lack to make it work is a 10. We've got three solid backup 10s, but not one of them is anywhere near being the quality we need to get the best out of the rest of the squad. Maybe that's gonna be Ozil. Maybe Karloski will be proven wrong, after all, and it's gonna be Griezmann. I have no idea. But this is the whole in the squad that grinds the attack down into a crawl at times. The days of flying wingers -- "dribblers" -- is long, long gone.
