In a way I kind of see the clubs point. Germany is a powerhouse and has nothing to prove by participating in a 2nd tier tournament like the confederations cup. They pay the players salary so......
It's a bit weird though.. according to this the last qualifier game will be 11 or 12th of June. Mexico's first match at the confederations would be on the 18th. That's about a week of rest before leading into the first match. Unless there are some weird rules prohibiting Mexico from doing this, I don't see why he wouldn't be able to send the first team to the confederations cup.
Maybe to not anger the bitch-ass crying euro clubs? Imagine if Vela, Cheech and co play two intense qualifiers then five games at the confeds cup, that's seven games during summer vacation. The clubs would throw a fit
After the Jona BS, euro clubs should fvck off. I think Mexico can ask to move up the US game like they did in 2013. I think JCO said something that if Mexico does well in March, they will reconsider but up to know I think it's BS and it does look like he's covering his ass because I don't get how this competition, (the only important we have outside of Copa America) shouldn't be a main priority.
Yeah, it really sucks. This would be great preparation for the World Cup, and help ease any mental barriers which might remain after the Chile game, to make sure that choke doesn't haunt them in 2018. CL winners send their strongest squads to the CWC as well. Its not really as important as you want it to be. Its the CWC of NTs
To be fair, this has gone under the radar now and I think there might be push back. If the media cried for some stupid friendlies against New Zealand and Panama, I think they will go ape shit for this and this time I would agree.
2005 and 2013 we had WC qualifiers as well yet still took our best squad Why should next year be any different?
