Here are the Top 10 in Concacaf in the July 2019 FIFA Rankings: 12. Mexico (up 6 to their best ranking since they were 9th in June 2011) 22. USA (up 8) 44. Costa Rica (down 5 to their worst ranking since they were 48th in June 2013) 52. Jamaica (up 2) 67. Honduras (down 6) 68. El Salvador (up 1) 74. Panama (up 1) 78. Canada (even) 79. Curacao (even) 83. Haiti (up 18) Trinidad and Tobago fell from 10th to 11th in Concacaf and 92nd to 101st overall. Concacaf has only 11 of 35 teams (31.4 percent) in the top half. Concacaf had a combined move of up 12 (0.34 per team), and has an average ranking of 139.4. There are 211 teams, and the average ranking is a little higher (worse) than 106 because tied teams are all given the best ranking in the tie, and spots below are left vacant. Barbados is the middle team in Concacaf and is 163rd.
ok this is a better question. If you could play FIFA International football which country would you represent?
In October, Jamaica could pass Costa Rica. Jamaica plays Aruba twice. Costa Rica goes to Haiti and hosts Curacao. Curacao would really help their Hexagonal chances with a point or three in Costa Rica. The last time Jamaica was above Costa Rica was January 2013.
Here are the Top 10 in Concacaf in the September 2019 FIFA Rankings: 12. Mexico (even) 21. USA (up 1) 43. Costa Rica (up 1) 47. Jamaica (up 5) 67. Honduras (even) 72. El Salvador (down 4) 75. British Virgin Islands (down 5, down 2 in Concacaf) Concacaf had a net gain of 10 spots.
Good thing CONCACAF hosting World Cup down the road - seems only chance for one of our teams to reach a semi-final.
Also, good thing World Cup gonna be 48 teams so more CONCACAF teams can make it. 3.5 places is too little. If we get a solid 5.5 places per cup I would be satisfied.
Here are the Top 10 in Concacaf in the November 2019 FIFA Rankings: 11. Mexico (even, even in Concacaf) 22. USA (up 1, even in Concacaf) 46. Costa Rica (up 1, up 1 in Concacaf) 48. Jamaica (down 3, down 1 in Concacaf) 62. Honduras (up 1, even in Concacaf) 69. El Salvador (up 4, up 1 in Concacaf) 73. Canada (down 4, down 1 in Concacaf) 80. Curaçao (down 4, even in Concacaf) 81. Panama (down 1, even in Concacaf) 86. Haiti (up 2, even in Concacaf) Trinidad and Tobago is 104th and is final Concacaf team in the top half. Concacaf has 11 of 35 teams (31.4 percent) in the top half. The 35 teams combined for the same average rank as last month. Seven teams moved at least 5 spots. I gave these teams ranks overall, but not in Concacaf. 142. Suriname (up 8) 150. Nicaragua (down 13) 158. Dominican Republic (down 5) 166. Guyana (up 8) 183. Montserrat (up 6) 195. Bahamas (up 6) 201. Aruba (down 6)
Here are the Top 10 in Concacaf in the October 2020 FIFA Rankings: 11. Mexico (even) 22. USA (up 1) 48. Jamaica (even, up 1 in Concacaf) 50. Costa Rica (down 4, down 1 in Concacaf) 63. Honduras (down 1) 68. El Salvador (up 1) 72. Canada (up 1) 77. Panama (up 4, up 1 in Concacaf) 81. Curacao (down 1, down 1 in Concacaf) 87. Haiti (down 1) Those are the only Concacaf teams in the Top 100. Trinidad and Tobago is 105th, and they're the eleventh and final team in the top half. Concacaf has 35 members of FIFA with 11 (31.4 percent) in the top half and 24 (68.6 percent) in the bottom half. Mexico, Costa Rica, Honduras, Panama, Guatemala, and Nicaragua were the six teams whose points changed. Other teams moved ranks because of teams in other confederations near them. 7 (exactly 20 percent) moved up, 18 (51.4 percent) remained the same, and 10 (28.6 percent) moved down. The mean ranking remained the same because the moves up and moves down were 13 spots each.
The Concacaf Men's National ranking has returned - dated October 1, 2020 https://www.concacaf.com/en/rankings/mens-national-team Top 10 are: 1 Mexico 2,078 2 United States 1,822 3 Costa Rica 1,677 4 Honduras 1,648 5 Jamaica 1,549 6 Canada 1,540 7 Haiti 1,484 8 Panama 1,472 9 Guatemala 1,405 10 El Salvador 1,404 The difference for El Salvador in the CONCACAF rankings (10th) to FIFA (6th) is stunning!
It is a bit of a discrepancy between the two rankings but I think the CONCACAF one may be a bit more accurate. Although maybe I would still put El Salvador ahead of Guatemala but barely. But numbers are numbers and games are games. If the world gets back to normal by the time the Qualifiers start up and El Salvador can pack their stadium with supporters I think they can beat anyone other than Mexico. Same can pretty much be said about any of the Central America teams. They have pretty good fortresses at home.
https://www.fifa.com/fifa-world-ranking/news/mexico-and-italy-return-to-top-ten is titled "Mexico and Italy return to top ten." Here are the Top 10 in Concacaf in the November 2020 FIFA Rankings: 9. Mexico (up 2) 22. USA (even) 47. Jamaica (up 1) 51. Costa Rica (down 1) 64. Honduras (down 1) 70. El Salvador (down 2) 72. Canada (even) 76. Curacao (up 5) 78. Panama (down 1) 84. Haiti (up 3) Those teams combined to move up 6 spots. All 35 teams combined had no net change. Costa Rica is out of the Top 50 for the first time since they were 53rd in March 2013.
Here are the Top 10 in Concacaf in the April 2021 FIFA Rankings: 11. Mexico (down 2) 20. USA (up 2) 45. Jamaica (up 2) 50. Costa Rica (even) 67. Honduras (down 3) 69. El Salvador (up 1) 70. Canada (up 3) 76. Curacao (even) 78. Panama (even) 83. Haiti (up 1) Concacaf teams combined to gain 8 places.
Any idea when new FIFA and/or CONCACAF rankings come out? Will there be any in July or will they just wait until August after all the summer tournaments
