It would be a pathetic sight to see when US fans are outnumbered in the Rose Bowl next month. Even with that "50/50" crowd mechanism to make it "fair", I would be surprised if the ratio isn't 60/40 or 70/30 in favor for Mexico.
Only if you think quantity is more important than quality. In all seriousness, though, don't really give a damn either way. There could be 95,000 people there in Chicharito jerseys and waving Mexican flags, for all I care. All that matters, to me, is a W or an L.
This is the biggest game v mex since 02. Bigger than the gold cup, bigger then The hex. Mex fans say this is a money grab game, but what soccer game worth watching isn't? edit... Go go USA!
Eh, this one has had the months of hype building up, so I guess you can call the biggest game. However we played a one off playoff for a Confederations Cup bid 4 years ago at the Rose Bowl and 4 years before that at Soldier Field
This one is different... It's the very first C cup ( with it' very own trophy), and the next one won't be for anther 4 years... And based on the new format it's possible there might not even be one in 4 years.
That doesn't make it special. Wcq between the USA and Mexico are a bigger deal than this added on money grab which just an extension of the poorly run gold cup
you guys play down ever tournament or game that the usa is in that involves mexico, thats unless you guys win. then yall act like yall never played it down
Eh, I just think it's fair to call this a really big game and nothing more. Statements like "this is the biggest game since 2002" are a bit over the top
Most of the time in wcq both the USA and mexico advance, and the outcome between Mexico and the U.S. doesnt make or brake qualifying for the WC. Edit... The gold cup games come close... But this one game determines the culmination of 4 years. We have never had a game like this in the past and it might not happen again for a long time.
We absolutely have had games like this one before in fact we had this exact game four years ago. This game isn't any more unique then the 2011 gold cup final in either venue or prize.
I could care less who wins this game. It's just an extra Concacaf money grab for which ever corrupt official is cashing in the gold cup checks this cycle. Concacaf is the only region with a regional championship just designed to be cash grab and nothing else
Nope... This is the first game of its kind. The b gold cup winners have never played the a gold cup winners for all the marbles. The usa was not even in the final in 2015. So no we have never played this game before.
All big soccer tournaments are money grabs. The WC is, the Confed cup is, champions league is. And I find it hard to believe you don't care about this game or you would not be posting in a thread about this very "money grab".
I wrote it's the only one that is JUST a money grab clearly all football at this level is for profit to some degree but Concacaf makes it all about the profit. You can tell yourself this game is unique but I have seen a final between Mexico and the USA with a confederations cup ticket on the line at the rose bowl before and unless something dramatically changes in Concacaf I know I will see it again. I read pretty much everything on the Concacaf threads some stuff is more interesting than others. I comment when I want but I can say honestly the outcome either way has no effect on me whatsoever
