Impact should be ********ing ashamed of themselves.... they put 11 people behind the ball and they allow 5 goals??? pathetic
i agree with you and get what you're saying 100%. it should of never have come to that, buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut......... the way they won in stoppage time, scoring 4 in 45 minutes, being so closed several times........that celebration was a release man.
They did those things because of their actions. The Islanders game was a clear example. I was at that game and Santos fielded their scrubs, tactically as awful and go outhearted by the Islanders even with the impact of the terrible conditions. This isn't something like the Monterrey series. This is an USL team. Nobody see the series before and thinks the series should have ended in the final minutes. Santos was clear favorite and they barely got thru and a lot of it happened because of the same thing that happens always, Mexican teams going overconfident. The only problem was the went thru this time and didn't fail like they been doing with the NT recently.
Santos just did it to make the game interesting lol But I agree even without jonny garcia on the field they still make defensive errors chato should be benched for that horrible error. And again if you have played the game you will know that doing such feat and then the game ends all you can do is realease does emotions of busting your ass for not failling, it emotional stress come on now you know that.
Yeah nobody else does that here except you Good smoke screen to try to distract from the fact you are nothing here noob.
And yet when Honduras did that, everybody gave the flack for it. I can agree with the fans and the players doing it but after really analyzing it to claim to me is too much. I am totally glad they did it but I see it more as a mistake righted.
and it was a mistake righten. there is nothing wrong with celebrating with your fans is there? Honduras can celebrate own goal victories for all i care.
Meh, give Santos some credit. We always downplay anything great that happens for us. I don't see the USL as a 2nd division. I see them more like the afl vs nfl in terms of fighting with the MLS . They had to come back after some boneheaded mistakes that they caused themselves. They just put 4 goals in the net in one half, santos fans should have every right to celebrate.
I think it's kind of weird that there are two ideas being expressed pretty frequently in this thread. 1-Beating Montreal Impact is not worth celebrating. 2-Santos is stupid for underestimating Montreal Impact Hmmmm..... Anyway, that shit was exciting! I had a hunch it would happen when Benitez hit the post after the second goal. Too much pressure to sit back and absorb for an entire half.
That reminded me of the River v Botafogo game from 2 years ago. I know the Impact aren't Botafogo but still that was entertaining. Its true that Santos put themselves in that position, but they dug themselves out of it.
I do not think Santos underestimated the Impact because in both matches, they showed tactical superiority. They just had a couple mental errors. But i also think that they shouldn't be celebrating they way they did. When you consider the payroll, the infrastructure, and the resources, it is not something to be proud of being put in that position. Kind of reminds me of the movie, A Shot at glory, when the Ranger's manager goes into the locker room and is pissed that his team is happy being up one goal against a 2nd division team.
I'll say one thing decent about the incredibly bad FSC anouncers they didn't mention once the altitude excuse I think... maybe because it was not a US club
Both happened When Guzman and Lorito Jimenez say that they don't know much about the Impact and have never seen them play. Its pretty safe to assume that they were underestimating them. I mean how hard was it to get tapes from the matches they played against Atlante? Mental errors? Of course those were the problems, but hasn't it ever occurred to you that mental erros or brainfarts seem to occur more often when you are not concentrated on the task in hand.
you assume wrong. Impact is not the type of team where you send scouts or watch video of them for weeks in advance. I was aware of the comments that Guzman said, but I am also aware of him stating that their assistants were going to review some games. The 2nd goal that was scored on the 1st leg was more a mental error on Santos behalf than a play where they broke Santos defend. The defender and the keeper did not communicate. The backward pass that Chato made tonight was also a mental error. But that still has nothing to do with under estimating an opponent or not being prepared for a match.
