Say Montreal loses to RBNY on the last matchday while the two CRC clubs win their last matches, and then Montreal loses its QF while a CRC club makes it to the final.
It's certainly possible. Canada is guaranteed at least an 11.000 for the year, and Costa Rica is at 7.667, effectively. Each Costa Rican win is worth a full point to their coefficient. So, if Montreal doesn't win another game, and Costa Rica wins the equivalent of 6 games, they'd overtake Canada. Could theoretically be done by the end of the quarterfinals.

Looks like CRC has a real chance to jump over both CAN and USA. This parity should make this even more interesting. I still wish CONCACAF had a mechanism in place to determine the allocations. CRC should be rewarded. They got 3 spots this time due to BLZ not able to meet the stadium requirements. Should they be guaranteed 3 spots?
Should be 4-3-3 for the top three non-Canadian feds, I think. Give the US spots to the SS winner, MLS Cup winner, and USOC winner. They haven't justified four spots, and the gap between Mexico and everyone else is so big that Mexico deserves a bit of an advantage (in number of berths). Plus, US teams have had the advantage since the format change to not have to play Mexican teams in the group stage, which I view as a major contributor to the increase in perceived performance. Getting rid of one of the US berths would make the "separate MLS and Liga MX!" idea a bit less relevant and harder to justify. Ideally (read: not going to happen), I'd revert back to the old format, but give 3 Mexican teams auto-group spots, 2 US teams auto spots (SS and MLS Cup), 1 Canadian, and 2 Costa Rican. Then have everyone else play a seeded (by club, not fed) preliminary round to knock it down to 16. I'll keep dreaming.
CONCACAF really needs a ranking system to seed teams (and maybe countries), but I cant see them using the UEFA method (no offense, what you have been doing is great) as it seems too complex for CONCACAF. However, I think the CAF method (or a variation there of) will maybe be more appropriate to rank countries and teams. Also, Costa Rica do deserve an addition slot, but I think CFU is the more likely candidate to lose it.

Would it be fair to say that the CONCACAF Coefficients are now flawed, based on Liga MX and American MLS teams effectively being seeded? As of the decision to separate the representatives of those two groups, the rest of the CONCACAF entrants are theoretically given much tougher groups across the board. This is going to skew results in the favour of MLS and Liga MX teams while the system is in place, giving them a coefficient rating that is an unreliable representation.
