Has a Mexican team ever won the Pan-Pacific Championship (RI...nah, I'm glad it's dead :D )? Last I checked, Mexico has a Pacific coast, so its teams were eligible.

What do you think about this format?

I ordered the club within their coefficient thanks to the thread "concacaf champions league coefficient". Concerning the club which has never been part of the previous champions league I ordered them within the coefficient of national leagues. In this format, there aren't prelims all the 24 teams are in group stage I think it's beneficial for the little teams which will gain experience and become stronger year to year. The teams qualified for eighths are the 1st the second and the 4 better teams of each groups. It will give more challenge in the group stage because the thrid place can do qualifier.

Honest, short reply: way too many games and too much travel in the group stage, to only end up with a 1/3 of the field being eliminated.

The most points a group can have is 36 if there were no draws and that group has 37.

Sorry it's 16 points for monterrey but the most important it's the format not the result of the teams it was just an example.

WOW, this %&*t is FIXED! LOL

All the Mexican teams ended up on the same half of the draw!

So, here it is (sorry for the slowness, I'm dying of laughter here):

Monterrey (MEX) vs. Toluca (MEX) *
Santos Laguna (MEX) vs. Cruz Azul (MEX)

    ---

Real Salt Lake (USA) vs. Columbus Crew (USA) @
Olimpia (HON) vs. Deportivo Saprissa (CRC) * @

Btw, the guaranteed Mexican team will host the first leg of the final and play the second leg on the road.

    * = hosts second leg of the semifinal round
@ = hosts second leg of the Final

Well they also have the American teams eliminating each other and the Central American teams eliminating each other. I guess that when Mexico has two First and two seconds that is one of the optional results.

I wonder what the odds on this actually happening at random were.

Mexican teams’ playing each other was about a 50% chance. Both ending on the same side?

Exactly! No Mexican or Central American teams traveling to Salt Lake or Columbus in February either. It's a little hard to believe that this "draw" was on the up and up.

Wow! You would think CONCACAF would try an act professionally at least by accident on occasion I guess this shows they won't even pretend. What are the odds that happens by chance?

Cruz Azul knows that if they finish second this time they will have lost to a non-Mexican club.

    And perhaps the best part...

So maybe CONCACAF does listen to us after all! :D

Last thought for the night: it's really odd (although not suspicious, at least before seeing how the entire bracket turned out) to see four quarterfinal matchups in a Champions League, of which only one features teams from different countries.

Bonus question: now that the the last match of this year's CCL is guaranteed to take place outside of Mexico, will Jack and Chuck finally show up to hand out the awards?

I read this in our forums also. Is this a rule they pulled out of nowhere, or is it because of the way the bracket is set up?

Ostensibly, the order of the two games in the Final is randomly drawn, just like for the semifinal series. And the winner of the US/CentralAm bracket got drawn to host the 2nd leg of the Final.

All Mexican sides on the same side of the bracket, and on top of all that the 2nd leg of the final will be played outside Mexico.....

    a clear message from Concacaf...

Will a nonmexican team win this thing please!!!!!

Mexico has won what 25, 26 CCC/CCL trophies

1 Sudamericana and two runners up in Libertadores

What I mean is the FMF has won around 27 continental trophies and thats not even counting the Interamericanas that Mexico has won.

so unless the Korean and Japanese leagues have won more than 27 Continental Trophies combined my statement is true.

Pan pacifics dont count just like stupidliga trophies dont count

So by your math, if teams from New Zealand win some type of Oceania championship cup for the next 50 years, you will claim that New Zealand has a better league than Mexico, even when they do not even have a professional league, but a team that plays in Australia?

J-league since 1993 (their first year)
    5 AFC Championships

    K-League since 1983 (1st year)
8 Championships. The most in AFC

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AFC_Champions_League#By_Nation

    M-league since 1961 (join concacaf)

    27 Concacaf Championships
    1 Copa Sud Americana.

Head to head in the FIFA CC
    Mex 1-1 Korea
    Mex 0-1 Japan
    Mex 1-2 Africa

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FIFA_Club_World_Cup

    This all proves nothing! lol!

Of course, a native Spanish speaker can call me out on this if I'm wrong, but from 21-29 you write it as one word, and then from 30 on it's two words.
