https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2018...w-york-red-bulls-chris-armas-named-head-coach We knew it would happen, it was the worst kept secret at the club. I like Armas for the stability aspect. He has paid his dues as an assistant, born leader from his playing days and a local guy. The midseason change sucks but that is a result of the MLS season.
Don't really have much sense of Armas as a coach, but more than willing to give him a chance. Funny how both nyc clubs lost their managers mid-season, and now we play the derby tomorrow. Is Marsch gone already?
Yeah, he is packing his suitcase. Losing a manger midseason will always happen because of the MLS season. It is a good sign that people are hiring guys coaching in MLS. JCO, Veira and Marsch is all good stuff.
https://www.soccerwire.com/notes/new-york-red-bulls-add-c-j-brown-to-mls-coaching-staff/ NYRB add C.J. Brown to MLS coaching staff July 10, 2018
They had to replace the position due to the promotion. I would have liked an internal promotion but Armas probably wanted someone he knew and liked. Hopefully Brown isn't just a yes man and adds to the staff.
He's been a long-time MLS assistant. I suspect he's good in his role, but probably not going to be trying for the big job.
Well we can close this thread. Even Covid season hurt but it is clear that Armas is not the build a roster type.

Wow, can't say I would've seen that coming. Maybe it's the Red Bull network at work here? I.e. Ragnick, Marsch, etc. Edit: I subsequently heard of Jesse Marsch being sacked. I suppose that's the end for him within Red Bull???
Yes, I thought it would be the South African dude. I am not sure what is next for Marsch. If I am him, I wait til after the WC and take Gregg's job.

Glad to see Armas get a 2nd chance in the EPL. And working under Jesse again makes total sense. I’m sure rootin for those two Yanks to have success in England, rather than be sacked before Christmas.
Tom Bogert @tombogert Nov 2 Sources: The Colorado Rapids coaching search is at its final stage and a decision is imminent. Rapids down to four finalists, including former RBNY boss Chris Armas and interim Chris Little.
Belichek figured out what exactly? All he did was write Tom Brady’s name as the starter. Before and after Brady, he was a loser. Brady after he left the Patriots STILL won a SB!!!!
