Sons of Nessie are going down. Multi-goal win to get everyone's hopes up that we are going on the end-of-the-season run into playoffs, right before the reality of the playoff game smacks us in the face.
Mensah is out so I'm guessing Williams/Sauro in the back. This is a must win game so we'll see if our wingers show up.
Impending Doom & Crippling Depression. Prince. New Edition. Very stable genius. This is a @chr1st masterclass. That can only mean one thing.... Lose by 2 (or more).
16 starts, 4 goals, 6 yellow cards. He also had a three game suspension mid-season. OC has a conference semifinal playoff game on Saturday. They won the regular season Western Conference title.
Any idea when parking lots open for Crew fans? They'll be open all day for QHC for $25. I was thinking about coming to the Legends game, but expect the Ohio Historical Society's parking to be $25 for the Congress. I have B Lot passes for the game, but thought I can't use early and later. Not sure a tailgate in rain sounds fun. Advisory: #CrewSC supporters are encouraged to arrive early Sunday for #CLBvMIN to account for potential additional traffic getting to @MAPFREStadium and the parking lots at the Ohio Expo Center for Quarter Horse Congress.➡️ https://t.co/t9kqKVeFPb pic.twitter.com/gG4Nn0c2mc— The Crew (@ColumbusCrew) October 24, 2018
Over the whole season, by my count, we've gone 4-3-4 (w-d-l) against the teams currently in the playoff spots. Big wins at NYRB and home to NYCFC and the crushing at the hands of ATL in the last 10 games. Plus a few dreadful performances against the league's bottom feeders in there too. They had a lock on 4th place for 2/3 of the season and have let that slip. They've let the chance to lock a spot up slip for 3 games in a row and have it all come down to this. I don't think they have the stones. They certainly haven't demonstrated that they do. As always, come kick-off I'll be cheering them on and hoping they're their best selves on "decision day." At the moment, I'm less than hopeful.
I coach locally and got an individual ticket deal sent to me this afternoon for our association. The ticket rep replied with info after 8 pm. Solid to say there's effort.
Nice! They should have been doing this last week but I'll take it. With the way tickets were selling I can see why they would want to wait. Hopefully some teams can make the quick turnaround and help fill out some of the empty corners that I think are priced too high on ticketmaster. Hopefully there's a good discount!
The Soccer Gods demand a 2-0 Crew win, because if that happens... My Loons will finish 2018 with a) the same number of points b) the same number of goals allowed c) the same number of goals scored and (obviously) d) the same goal difference as 2017. Yet, somehow, the Adrian and Manny Show gets a passing grade for showing possibly an absolute zero mark of improvement. Oy.
If you get out to the game on Sunday and stop by the AAA tailgate, please ask Markus to do one of his Waka Waka jokes. He makes up his own. This morning's Waka Waka joke was about a house or something. What a goofball.
An emotionally drained team finds their backs up against the wall. But they're now anxious to spit out the bitter taste of regret, from their late season let down, understandable though it may have been. They answer Sunday in stunning fashion. Win by 2.
