Back on track after the pro/rel detour: The red part isn't necessarily the most important. Down at the bottom you see a little tidbit mentioning how MLS is now focused on league growth and relocation all over the country.
Sean Foley is on the MLS Board of Governors? I don't think any of this is particularly important at all. If you get me some inside MLS info that the league is focused on relocation all over, and particularly Las Vegas, go for it.
It can be 70 degrees in Denver in January or February and you don't want him getting the wrong impression.
Meeting Don Garber at a what was presumably an open bar function isn't particularly a special achievement or an indication of being included in the inner deliberations of the MLS Board of Governors or their long term strategy. But if you're looking for confirmation bias, he does appear to be a pretty good source. Go for it.
It can be 70 degrees in December through February in Columbus, too. Or anyplace that is in the harsh winter 2/3 of the country. But that doesn't mean it WILL be 70 degrees. By a long shot.
It was at SXSW where a lot of people in sports, entertainment, art, health, tech, media, etc. meet-up. It could have been a 5 min "chat". I could prepare a similar statement from my experience at SXSW in 2014 where I talked with Neil deGrasse Tyson. We talked for 45 seconds most of which he talked about how much he enjoyed living in Maryland. Maybe I should go tell my town to build a planetarium so we can attract him because he made small talk with me about where I currently live.
Its a good thing we got a photographer on a soccer message board to give us the scoop and keep us in line.
Suttle claims that time is up for ACC and they need to move ahead on 6/28 or PSV and MLS will look at other cities. This is the first we've heard from an MLS representative about other cities being an option for the Crew. It's also pretty pointless as PSV and MLS can't really deliver the team to Austin until the Modell litigation is concluded. That won't be by next week. We'll probably have a ruling from the 10th district court of appeals on the state's motion to dismiss PSV's interlocutory appeal. If the state wins that motion (likely imo), then the case will be sent back to the court of common pleas. The last things that happened there were Judge Brown ordering the sides to agree on what information potential buyers would need and to come up with an NDA for his approval. AFAIK, there is no agreement between the parties on either matter. We're also getting close to the beginning of discovery.
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.
Except Minneapolis. I can live with that, because it's almost entirely beside the point. I actually bet Boston is in on that, too, because that place might get spring later than even Jamestown, NY.
