Did anyone else get an email about a watch party at Platform? Looks like their high school summer interns are in charge of photoshopping
Crewster Point forecast going into this week's games: EAST Atlanta 59 NYRB 59 NYC 58 DC 56 Montreal 49 Columbus 48 New England 43 Orlando 43 Toronto 43 Philadelphia 42 Chicago 38 WEST LAFC 59 Portland 58 Dallas 57 Kansas City 54 LA Galaxy 52 Salt Lake 48 Houston 48 Vancouver 47 Seattle 44 Minnesota 43 San Jose 39 Colorado 35
Red Bulls have 3 games in hand on the Crew and are 5 points ahead. That seems a bit significant. But one of those games in hand is tonight, and it's humid as ******** out here on the east coast, so maybe we'll see some tired legs Saturday. The Crew has been absolute garbage on the road offensively. If they are gonna catch/pass the Red Bulls in the standings a head to head win on the road would go a long way towards doing that.
I am fine with Montreal jumping up but DC? I know your model emphasizes home games but they are just terrible.
Interesting also to note that Benfica (the second biggest club in the world, behind only AS Roma) is playing Juventus (one of the worst clubs in the universe) at Red Bull Arena at 1pm before the Crew match. RBA's field is usually in pretty good shape so I am not too overly concerned, though it is a bit strange.
MLS has come a long way that they're not using this as a double header. Two totally different crowds/tickets. Making it a double header as a fan would make for a long day in Jersey.
If I wasn't on my way to the beach with my wife and her family on Saturday I would have definitely tried to do both games. You probably would be able to find me passed out in some random PATH station near Red Bull Arena on Sunday morning.
My favorite "triple header" of all time was going to the Bicentennial Cup (Team USA (NASL All Stars) vs England in the morning at JFK Stadium (once home to Live Aid and the Army-Navy Game) followed by a Phillies-Cubs twi-night doubleheader in the afternoon at the Vet. And between the games of the doubleheader, Karl Wallenda walked on a tightrope across the Vet.
NYRB is top of the league in PPG. Home field makes a big difference in MLS. All spells for bad news for the good guys. 2.05 NYRB 2.00 NYFC 2.00 Atlanta 1.95 FCD 1.75 LAFC 1.72 Portland 1.65 SKC 1.55 LA Gals 1.50 Columbus Crew SC 1.43 RSL 1.35 Houston 1.33 NER 1.33 Minnesota 1.29 Philly 1.27 Le Impact 1.24 Vancouver 1.15 Seattle 1.10 Orlando 1.05 Chicago 0.95 TFC (who really expected these guys to stay down here almost 2/3 of the way through the season?) 0.85 Colorado 0.82 DCU 0.60 San Jose
Looks more and more likely we will finish fourth at best. Will be hard to catch one of the NY teams unless we start beating them. Atlanta is not going to be caught by us. Hopefully we get hot in the playoffs after a few big ( cheap) last minute transfers
Really glad BWP got that 100 goal nonsense and celebration out of the way midweek. I actually really like the guy and woulda been annoyed to see it happen against us.
Do we get a player to score their second goal of the season before we get a twelfth scorer? I like Mullins chances to become number 12, but one of our wingers has to score again eventually, right?
