Add Central Ohioans too. Literally 90% of my friends in Columbus are Steelers fans. About 3% are Bengals, 2% Browns and rest are other teams. Might have something to do with that question I have on my application to enter my friend zone.
Let me take the conspiracy theory one step further. DSL is one of those rec leagues that use MLS team names for their teams. Every year up to 2018 the yellow team was always The Crew. 2018 it changed to NSC (Nashville SC). This year it was back to the Crew. Not sure who manufactures the uniforms but something weird was going on.
Precourt was happening last season so maybe that I've always been curious if the NFL would play a Bengals vs. Browns, Browns vs. Steelers, or Bengals vs. Steelers game at Ohio Stadium
You may be thinking of Indians vs Reds at cooper stadium? I don’t remember browns - bengals other than the 2 they play every season. Who Dey think are gonna play in Columbus?
In the early years of Crew Stadium, the Browns and Bengals had a few pre-season practices at the stadium. I think the Browns and the Bengals had a combined practice in 2000 and the Colts even had one as well.
Come to think of it, this past weekend's Steelers/Colts game at Ohio Stadium would have been lit. I don't know why I'm talking about this here, but Cincinnati vs Indy in Louisville would be neat as well.
For everyone except possibly people who mortgaged their homes to buy ludicrously expensive season tickets and then discovered that one of the eight games they paid to see is being played a couple hundred miles away in another state.
Explains why most of us can't remember it. Browns have been doing preseason scrimmage at Ohio stadium: https://dawgpounddaily.com/2016/06/15/cleveland-browns-to-hold-scrimmage-at-ohio-stadium-2/ If that was upgraded to a preseason game vs. Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, or Cincinnati. I think that's about the biggest win Columbus based NFL fans could hope for.
Robert Griffin III? Hue Jackson? Who ARE these people? How long ago was this? Oh. Three years. Hashtag Browns...or something.
Ohio Stadium did host a game between the Rams and Eagles in 1985 preseason. Eagles had a scheduling conflict with baseball at the Vet and for some reason moved it to Columbus.
Other NFL games too. I recall going there to see the Eagles and the Rams. 1985. https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1985-08-24-sp-26228-story.html
How can I do better than rooting for a team that has 6 Superbowl rings/Lombardi [emoji471]s? Seems I'm in great company.
Seems odd to have an Iggles preseason game in Columbus, Vet Stadium conflict or no. Why not play it at JFK? (Still standing in ‘85) Or the home stadium for the U Penn Quakers?
