Oh, and we're on a national broadcast. The Sportings are top of the Western Conference, and for good reason. They're among the league leaders in goals scored, the defense is legit, and Melia may be the second-best 'keeper in MLS. That being said, the offensive production has fallen off in their last four matches, and they lost Gutiérrez to a sports hernia. Can we win? Hell yeah. Let's see some tears from Bitchface Vermes, baby! Discuss.
Ok, I am in desperate need of a gif. Anyone with ESPN+ able to get a clip of Vermes reaction to the "foul" that happens at the 30:00 mark of the game? About 37 minutes into the video. Or point me to a tool that would let me do it? It's a classic bit of Vermes whining. It happens right in front of him, clearly is a foul on his player and his instant incredulity is amazing.
Crewster Point standings as of today: EAST NYC 9 NYRB 6 Atlanta 4 Columbus 3 DC 2 Orlando -2 New England -4 Philadelphia -4 Montreal -6 Toronto -8 Chicago -10 WEST LAFC 8 Kansas City 6 Portland 5 Houston 0 Salt Lake -2 Vancouver -2 LA Galaxy -2 Dallas -4 Seattle -4 Minnesota -5 San Jose -6 Colorado -7
The pessimist in me says MLS will take their one game we have on National TV to upload as much anti Columbus in 90+ minutes as they can. I expect the match to be slanted in KC's favor every possible way. Lose by two. The optimistic dreamer in me says Higuain scores a screamer goal rips off his jersey to reveal a #SaveTheCrew jersey underneath.
Local hero @chr1st has come through with my request for the gif of Vermes from their game against MN Saturday. As we all know no one on Vermes' team has ever committed a foul and any time an opponent looks at one of his guys sideways is a yellow worthy offense.
Stupid BS and embedding and whatnot. You could always host it on YouTube. Or maybe this'll work: Nevermind. Stupid Twitter.
I thought he was running in Shitcago slums these days? Boo-worthy indeed! Another golazo bonanza this weekend. Hype Train is looking for more goals.
Its SKC retro night. They're bringing back their rainbow jerseys which, I think, have aged gracefully. I wish the Crew were wearing their 98-99 bumble bee jerseys.
I saw those in the KC game thread. Right away I thought, "Tim will want one." So I am going to try my best to keep my husband from buying one of those jerseys. He loves gear like that (for example: Minion jersey). I am not sure if I will be able to sleep in the same house with a KC jersey in the closet. If push comes to shove, then that thing (jersey) is staying in the shed.

This game...damn, I'm really looking forward to it. National TV, great field and atmosphere, 2 teams playing well, holiday weekend so Sunday is more like Saturday. Stoic Berhalter vs Crazed Vermes. Both teams like to possess, KC likes to press a bit, not as full on as Red Bull. I don't see KC conceding the wings to our full backs as much as our last 2 opponents have. Afful in particular was a major presence in the attacking half, he didn't do much with it though, so maybe KC invites that? I'd be surprised if that were the case. They'll deny Trapp and Artur the ball deep, Pipa will have to come deep to get it a lot I would expect. Can we make some quick passing sequences to work it to the opposite flank and get our wingers involved running in space with the ball? That's where the chances can be found. This excellent break down of the KC offense from American Soccer Analysis is a good read: https://www.americansocceranalysis.com/home/2018/5/22/peter-vermes-system-and-his-favorite-child Limiting Zussi, the job of Milton, Artur and our left winger I would think will be imperative if we're to come out with points. I voted for a 1 goal win, I'm on a 2 game Grouchy Point Streak so....2-1 good guys. Go Crew!
If it makes you feel any better, I will be wearing my '96 white jersey out in KC. I scored it back in 2008 at a supporters' tailgate. Some Dallas fan (MLS jersey collector) came over to the tailgate with both a white '96 jersey and a black '96 jersey. I think he asked 20 bucks for each one. I took the youth XL, and I think @HardHatMike took the black adult sized one. I have never cared for autographs or game-worn jerseys, but that thing is special to me.
Depending on the Citeh result Satursay, a win could vault us top. A said win by 1. The shutout streak continues: 1-0 Crew.
So 60% of you psychopaths think we're going to get a positive result out of this? Y'all suffering from too much sunshine. Zardes with the hat. Crew loses by two (or more!!).
