I understood that FIFA will announce in the next few days that Chile & Peru will lose the points that they received due to Bolivia incident. If true, it's a wonderful news for us!!
Good For Colombia, Argentina, Uruguay even Ecuador since they play Chile head -to-head this autumn. Puts more pressure onto Chile obviously, and Peru is basically eliminated barring a strange miracle.
I remember it like it was yesterday... https://colfootball.wordpress.com/2...bia-won-its-first-and-only-intl-title-so-far/
I just read online that Colombia apparently does not want to play in Venezuela due to the obvious safety reasons and that Panama or Miami might be alternative places. Not sure how accurate these reports are but I would not be surprised if that's the case.
All/most Colombian airlines have suspended their service to Venezuela. It would be hard to find a willing charter company too.
Yea...I mean the game is in 30 days and that country is a mess . I don't think they should play there.
They are reporting that Colombia has already requested the game to be played outside of Venezuela to FIFA.
It would be hard to do it in Miami since the Hurricanes play a college football game a couple days later and I doubt they would want the field used before their opening game for optimum field conditions. FAU plays the day after in Boca Raton September 1st. It is an off day for the Marlins but I don't think either team wants to play on baseball dirt.
wouldnt any place in US be basically a Colombia home game..... in Miami or NY? Also NYC to then go back to Barranquilla is a FKING trek. Panama or Ecuador or Peru better spots. Only reason to play in US is $$$$$
I don't think Lockhart's dimensions are FIFA approved for qualifiers but I could be wrong. I was thinking Orlando too or Red Bull Arena in New Jersey. Panama will probably make the most sense logistically and proximity wise. They don't play at home until the 5th.
I can tell you from my experience, when Israel was in situations of middle-east wars, FIFA easily took our possibility to host Int'l games. Maybe with justice, maybe not, bit my feeling was always that with a major teams they wouldn't dare to do it, at least not so easily. Venezuela is like Israel, I don't think that neither FIFA or CONMEBOL will hesitate to order them to host us outside the country. It's impossible to play there at the moment. On other concerning notes, James will be absent for several weeks, may miss the qualifiers...
One of our rivals for a World Cup slot just got some bad news. Luis Suarez will miss Uruguay's matches against Argentina and Paraguay due to injury. Sure, they won last time without him and Cavani earlier in the tournament but this time around they are not playing well. They are free-falling actually and sputtering in their last 4 matches or so. I think this helps us out a bit.
I think we beat Peru and Venezuela and we qualify at least 5th. Brazil game I want us to win for pride but it's meaningless if we beat Venezuela and Peru. We lose either game then Paraguay who I think we should def beat is a must win Hope to qualify this round and next round try new guys. Dying to see Mina-Davison partnership without so much stress on it. Also play without James/Cuadrado/Ospina or Falcao
