I have an office :).... will schedule meetings when colombia is playing or will be helping my wife :)

But yea.... thought the games would be earlier. Only the Senegal game will be difficult to watch.

2002 was really bad here too.

good news for 2026 though because it will be held in North America! USA/Mex/Canada. Just crossing my fingers that they'll host at least one game relatively close to Miami and not just stick all the games in the mexican states (California/Texas/Arizona/etc.)

Guys - just download FOX Sports Go on your phone if you are stuck in the office during games.
or your cable provider should have a streaming app as well

I plan on bringing my iPad to work and watching from there.

Yeah, I can place my Ipad on my desk but I get calls and customers all the time. My best bet for Colombia's games is to call in sick....:)

Tell your customers and calls to get back to you in 90 minutes ;)

I hear ya. The tuesday game is tough bc I will either have to go to work before 8 am or after 10 am. I’m out of town Monday so coming in after 10 May be frowned upon haha (I work with gringos, so they don’t get it)

I’m sure Miami will get a game. It all depends if they put in a bid as a host city. I know Chicago and Vancouver both didn’t.

Am I the only one disappointed US gets the WC?

We have Nazis marching.... got most of fifa fired. Crying about bribes..... but US didn’t bribe South America to host Copa America or do some questionable shit to have every gold cup be hosted in the US

FWIW, Miami and Orlando were part of the bid:

OTOH, with the 48 team format.. 12 or 16 groups, most of the match will suck IMHO, the intensity will only pickup in the Round of 16.

I really, really hate that number of teams.. I'd rather have 40 and make the groups of 5, than have groups of 3, or groups of 4 where two teams are punching bags...

PS. If Bolillo or Leonel is our coach we might be one of the punching bags...:ROFLMAO:

you are correct that there elements of a double standard, but let's be honest - where else is capable of hosting a proper WC?

personally i think 3 countries sounds like a recipe for a logistical nightmare. if you want to do it right, you gotta spread it evenly across the three countries. 10 host cities should mean 3 in mexico; 3 in canada and 4 in US; and keep the group games in a region to minimize travel (no more than 3 hours of travel time if flying).

it's already bad enough for teams that have to fly east-west coast, but now fans and players will have to travel to different countries too - you could basically lose a whole day going through customs etc.

That's another reason why I hate the expansion to 48 teams. How many countries (or blocks of 2-4 countries) will be there to host so many games and host cities?

    China
    Australia/NZ
    Argentina/Uruguay/Paraguay
    BeNeLux+
    Scandinavia?

    And after that what?

I'm glad SA got another spot but I hate the expansion. I think the joint bid is good for the game overall, growing it in Canada and the US will only be good for the sport, the logistics of different countries will be a nightmare especially if Trumpism is still alive, hopefully by then though the country will have come to its senses and purged the morons.

Not disagreeing but honestly, in the last WC we had 6-9 punching bags... The teams below did not win any games, not saying that means that they're all horrible, but 4 of them scored only one goal...

    24 Russia H 3 0 2 1 2 2 3 -1
    25 Ghana G 3 0 1 2 1 4 6 -2
    26 England D 3 0 1 2 1 2 4 -2
    27 South Korea H 3 0 1 2 1 3 6 -3
    28 Iran F 3 0 1 2 1 1 4 -3
    29 Japan C 3 0 1 2 1 2 6 -4
    30 Australia B 3 0 0 3 0 3 9 -6
    31 Honduras E 3 0 0 3 0 1 8 -7
    32 Cameroon A 3 0 0 3 0 1 9 -8

So IMHO, the fix is not to add more teams, but to have more intercontinental playoffs... OTOH, it is a marketing game and FIFA might not want to have 3 more Euros and 2 more South Americans at the expense of Asians and Africans.

From what I read Conmebol gets a GUARANTEED 6 PLUS 1 possible mini playoff = 7 o_O. So in theory, using current Conmebol standings, Paraguay would represent Conmebol as that 7th seed in this mini-playoff which I think gives Conmebol teams a very good chance to claim a 7th spot.

    Play-off tournament[edit]
A play-off tournament involving six teams will be held to decide the last two FIFA World Cup berths,[19] consisting of one team per confederation (except for UEFA) and one additional team from the confederation of the host country.

Two of the teams will be seeded based on the FIFA World Rankings, and the seeded teams will play for a FIFA World Cup berth against the winners of the first two knockout games involving the four unseeded teams.

The tournament is to be played in the host country(ies) and to be used as a test event for the FIFA World Cup. The existing play-off window of November 2025 has been suggested as a tentative date for the 2026 edition.

It they’re going to have a mini-playoff, they might as well have more in the same system, maybe two per Confederation, without changing the actual WC berths.

so basically 2 extra spots, if thats the case then I still think its great, Would mean a team like Venezuela, Peru, Paraguay could get in.

would also be pretty embarrasing if we don't make it under those circumstances. I've had some people tell me its 5+1 and some tell me its 6+1 I can't remember personally. Good news regardless

So Peru will make it without a lawsuit next time :)

Wonder if that will stop other teams from sueing next time

Peru has also had last or close to last place finishes in several recent WCQ. This is Conmebol and if in theory there's 7 spots to possibly fight for it just means every team will have something to play for well into the last match.
