I can't remember how the actual team played but that lineup with Garay, Zabaleta, Messi, Aguero, Gago is close to about as stacked an U-20 I can remember with hindsight on our side. I do remember Messi and Aguero both being ridiculous on the same u-20 side, I think DiMaria played with Aguero in some Argentina squad too. Yeah I remember 2007 World Cup in Canada, that Argentina beating Chile in a semifinal where a bunch of the Chileans got sent off, both of those teams were stacked. Crazy how many of those players actually turned out, I remember actually that Chile team was probably the better side but were crazy, also makes a lot of sense how much success they had playing together so long. Chile had: Vidal, Alexis, Carmona, Isla, Medel Argentina: DiMaria, Aguero, Fazio, Insua, Mercado, Banega, Zarate, Maxi Moralez, Piatti That Argentina team also didn't get Messi since he was with the seniors but the current state of the Argentinian Federation really highlights how far they've fallen off, they used to produce powerhouses at this level.
Yeah. They played together in 2007. I wouldn't say stacked, that team had a single objective and It was to give the ball as fast as possible to Messi and he gave them that WC. I remember that Zabaleta and Torres played in the midfield and they were the ones that caught my eye, I didn't even remember that Gago was there. I did remember Garay and Ustari tho, both good but nothing special.
And the current Argentina team still dong the same thing, although at last years World Cup they couldn't even get him the ball.
Their chance was 2014, he was a Monster then, but Higuaín shat himself and Messi was controlled by the german team.
Yup Messi dragged that team to an inch of winning Higuain and less so Palacios couldn't get them over the line.
Cucho Hernandez has had a HORRENDOUS world cup. At this point he seems like another colombian press invention than anything else. slow and lazy player on the field
Colombia has had a terrible first half. The team lacks a lot of intensity and just talent in general. The lack of pace is crazy. we seem to lose almost every other ball to bad passes and cant seem to clear the box
Guys let's face it. We qualified with so much luck not only to the QF but also to the WC with Cuesta's winner against Chile. During these two tournaments I can count maybe 2-3 goodn games. We have an average national team and so far Ukraine is much better.
The ONLY chance we really had was that free kick at the edge of the box. Cucho who has taken most of the kicks didnt take it but rather VERA?!! Vera has never been able to pass the ball correctly the whole tournament. including corners, free kicks etc and missed the PK. Why him? someone sit him down.
That may true that we were lucky to qualify for this tournament but that doesnt change the fact that we significantly improved ourselves between that tournament and this one. The squad needs a real talking to and real subs because they are capable of doing something special.
That's confusing you because the Sudamericano was extremely horrendous by Colombia. So right now it may look to you that we improved, but it's the same conclusion, that Colombia is very average .
La verdad si cucho es lo mas prometedor de esta generación.........lanzemos todas nuestras expectativas al ciclismo.
Really, because I see us actually scoring goals and I see us actually doing better than that tournament we had last. The friendlies added to this WC showcases a team that strived for improvement. This squad has improved compared to when it did the south American cup
