Thank you for your service J-Mezzy...I still regret joining the Navy you jackass lol.

But anyway back onto topic, as mentioned before I am concerned with how our next opponent IS gonna be a serious issue. Can our better possession style be enough? Yeah scoring goals hasn't been as bad as our last tournament but I can't help but worry...

If we get early chances and make them count then perhaps the mentality of Ukraine will break down. Favored teams do tend to overreact and desperately attempt to equalize as soon as possible. Just that one chance or two and we could expose them with our possession.

Jaja. Reverse psychology. That shit works better than any encouragement. Usually people will try their hardest to prove you wrong.

Ukraine is no superpower but hey have as much a right to be in that semifinal as we do. Getting out of Conmebol is no easy feat and that's why all 4 teams made it past group stages. At this point, our boys just have to manage possession and not give the ball so easily. Look for Ukraine to totally look for fouls close to the area and take advantage of the 'pelota parada', which has always been our curse in all categories. Keep focused and score.

Hate to break it to you but we're not a great possession team and are anything but patient with the ball. We get it and try to run up the wings and force crosses/dribble surrendering possession quickly and vs NZ the game was end to end and we bypassed our midfield all game.

I'm really not as pessimistic as many of you. The remaining fixtures for this bracket are all winnable games. No one is playing beautiful futbol for 90 minutes even on the senior side let alone U20s. Both teams are coming into this well rested but I'm actually glad Colombia faced such a tough challenge with NZ , where as Ukraine pretty much coasted.

We learn how to shoot not at the goalie

And how to pass and make an assist we should win

If do you point that because the last play of angulo.........the problem wasnt shoot to the goalie.........is that he shot when he received when actually he has time to control and shot.

Except Ukraine isnt favored..at least not by the odds makers. That said, we all know that this Colombian team is flawed, and eventually another team with quality is going to make them pay.

I’d rather they lose now because I really dont want to have to play Italy (gf is Italian and I constantly tell her i cant wait to play them and beat them)-I’ll never hear then end if we lose to them, u-20 or not.

Oh poor you; youth matches wont last that long in people's memories like the senior matches. Losing in the semis wouldn't be so bad as it would be the farthest that we would ever reached. That would be a milestone and great for our youth products.

2003. We finished 3rd. That team had De la Cuesta, Pachón, Aguilar, Edixon Perea, Jaime Castrillón, Landazuri, Macnelly, Carrillo, Víctor Montaño and was a very solid unit. The coach was Rueda.

Also the U-17 has finished 4th twice. In 2003 in a team that had Guarin, Otalvaro, Arenas, Armero, Adrián Ramos and Hidalgo as its main players. And then in 2009 in a team that had Bonilla, Arias, Murillo, Quiñones, Cuero, Cuéllar as its core players.

That was a really good team but the 2005 team was even better. I feel we would have made it to the finals if we didnt have to meet an inspired Messi in QF stages.

The 2003 team had Rueda? 05 Lara? Might explain the difference because Lara sucks

I remember that the goal that got us out of the tournament was scored by an asshat called Barroso. He was a shitty right back whose career highlight was that ********ing goal. Now that I remember that was a horrible and incredibly forgettable argentinian NT, I only have good memories of Zabaleta, Who played as a midfielder then, the anchor man Juan Torres and Messi, the rest were average at best.

Just checked the team that played the final and It actually had some future Senior NT players. Gago, Garay, Ustari and Paletta Who played for Italy NT. The roster also had Biglia and Agüero on the bench.
