Spurs open their domestic cup campaign away to Colchester of League 2. Expect a raft of changes and a lot of players to be brought out of cold storage for this one as we look for our first away win in England since last January. Don't have high hopes for either domestic cup as the manager has made clear on many occasions his disdain for these competitions.
I agree we won't win the league, and the CL is pretty unlikely. But what about the FA cup? It's pretty much the same teams playing as the EFL cup. (And why bother having both of those competitions? Seems kind of redundant.)
Here are the teams: Colchester Gerken, Jackson, Eastman, Prosser, Bramall, Lapslie, Senior, Comley, Stevenson, Gambin, Nouble Substitutes Sowunmi, Norris, Brown, Cowan-Hall, Clampin, Chilvers, Ross Tottenham Gazzaniga, Walker-Peters, Tanganga, Sánchez, Davies Wanyama, Dier, Skipp, Dele, Parrott, Lucas Moura Substitutes Lloris, Vertonghen, Son, Lamela, Sissoko, Foyth, Eriksen Referee: Jarred Gillett
Republic of Ireland Under-21 forward Troy Parrott, 17, gets the start up front with Lucas, while England youth international centre-back Japhet Tanganga starts in central defense alongside Davinson Sanchez. Eric Dier, once coveted by Jose Mourinho no less, makes his first appearance of the season, while Juan Foyth returns to the squad after recovering from his ankle injury.
Well, this is his level, I just hope we don't see him in the PL again unless we are 4-0 up with 5 minutes to go.
Game is on ESPN+ if any of you have it. We should be crushing these guys, but 0-0 at half. Lucas's free kick the only shot on goal. 8 shots for us, none for them. Crowd hates Dele for some reason. Boo every time he touches the ball, at one point they were chanting "you're f-cking shit." What's up with that? Is Colchester a rival of MK Dons or something?
KWP has hit the inside of the post with an attempted cross. Best scoring chance so far. Son and Eriksen in for Tanganga and Parrott at the 66th minute.
0-0 full time. On to penalties. The season hits a new low. Though check back with me in 15 minutes, there are depths yet to plumb.
stuck in a hotel room in Indy, so i cant see it - which isnt a bad thing by the sound of it. no replays, right? extra time and straight to penalties.
I think I'm ready to get on the "Pochettino out" bandwagon. Also, Moura should never take another pk.
monitoring on my flip phone. posting on old nook color that a customer didnt want anymore. dunno what's sadder, me or spurs.
Colchester didn’t even play that well. Which isn’t to say they didn’t deserve to go through, but it wasn’t like they were defending heroically or taking the game to Spurs. Tottenham didn’t look like they wanted to be there.
