Fixed your sign, if this is what you meant. And in my case it's true, specially after my club has been 20 ********ing years without winning a title!
Agreed!! Being Colombian & a fan of Millos, it's been a very rough stretch!! But I'm an "eternal optimist" (especially, compared to my own family) when it comes to the cafeteros, not so much with Millos...though, I bleed Millos azul, ALWAYS!!
Does there seem to be any trend in the answers? eg people who say club have a national team that isnt a world cup regular or vice versa etc...
Yes but being colombian and fan of Junior is not the same, you need to bre prepared to suffer and your heart need to be prepared for every thing. Good luck to Millos next year, this year is of TU PAPA.
I think people from Western Europe and some parts of South America (and some Central and Eastern Europe too) will tend to be club first...while Africa,Asia, and CONCACAF-land will have fans who tend to be National Team first.
Country first, definately. It might have something to do with the fact that I won't even have a real home club until 2010, but I doubt it will ever change after that either. In my mind, a club is a business, something that you can connect to in the same way I do to the Phillies or Flyers, but in the end its all about the money. For the country, there's something more behind it. Sure, there is money involved, that's the world we live in. But watching the Nats, I feel like they are fighting for glory, for recognition of the USA as a legitimate footballing country, one that should be respected. I've also always found the unifying effect that international football has on the fans amazing. To see supporters of DCU and RBNY or Houston and Dallas support the same team, in the same group, and put aside their club rivalries in the name of their country, is really nothing short of extraordinary.
Yeah, you'd know. Some Junior fans refuse to even watch the NT Games if there isn't a costeño playing. And all that fuss about Teofilo, like no one ever else has been top scorer in Colombia.
Hahaha. I support my NT but I support with more fear my club. But you need to accept that as Falcao, Rodallega or Wason had received opportunites, Teofilo disserves it, even more now when he is making goals!!
Country - thanks to MLS for killing off the club option for me, since in Florida the USL teams don't get any recognition outside of their home cities, and the two MLS teams that did were "contracted".
