one thing that I have always admired America is that they have always been are the forefront in Mexican football history. While other clubs glorify false traditions and claim other achievments due to lack of poor results on the field, there are clubs that actually walk the walk and talk the talk. America is not only one othem, they are the leaders of the pack. America was the first Mexican team ever to play a match against an international opponent. They were also the first Mexican team to play a match outside of Mexico's borders. Their first match away from Mexico was set up by the Mexican embassy in Guatemala. They were scheduled to play 3 matches. For their Guatemalan trip, the following members of the team made the trip. America was the first team to play abroad. When i say "team", I am referring to both club and national teams. The Mexican NT played their first match against a foreign team FIVE years after the fact in 1927. Colo Colo was the first foreign team to play in Mexico. They played a series of matches in Mexico in 1927. ----------------------------------------------- Club America was also the first Mexican club to play a match in Argentina. They went on a 15 match tour during the 1954 summer months in South America (and Panama). They played matches in Argentina, Paraguay, Colombia, Ecuador, & Panama. Their overall record during that Tour stands at 7 Wins 1 Draw 7 Losses. ----------------------------------------------- It is also interesting to note that the club that pushed to participate in the 1928 Olympics and 1930 World Cup was none other than America. America's executives pushed to give Mexican football a more international appeal. That is why 8 of the 17 players on the 1928 Amsterdam Roster came from America.

Vivió su infancia en Brasil y ahí comenzó su carrera de futbolista, le apodaban ‘el mexicano’ por sus orígenes y rápidamente llegó al futbol de nuestro país. América lo descubrió en una gira por Brasil, al saber que era hijo de José Alves ‘Zague’, ex jugador de la institución, y de inmediato lo reclutó. Debutó en el Torneo México 86, en el que hizo el primero de muchos goles. Con el paso del tiempo, se convirtió en el máximo goleador del América en su historia, hizo 162 tantos en 400 partidos con las Águilas en dos etapas: del México 86 hasta la campaña 1995-96 y regresó en los torneos Invierno 97 y Verano 98. Antes y después de esas etapas estuvo con el Atlante, pero salió del equipo al final del Invierno 99, no jugó en el Verano 2000 y parecía que ya era el retiro, pero Raúl Arias lo llevó al Necaxa, donde se mantuvo hasta el Clausura 2003 para incrementar su cuota goleadora a 209 (184 en liga, 21 en liguilla y 4 en repesca). Carlos Enzo Reinoso Valdenegro Even though I wasn't alive during his years as a player, his story is one of the many that give me those "chills" that run down my spine! Here we have the story of how he came to glorify his name in our history! Pasaron los años y el futbol de Reinoso cada vez era mejor. Jugó el Mundial de Alemania 74 con Chile después de haber salido Campeón de Copa en la edición 73-74 y regresó para volver a coronarse como Campeón de liga en la 75-76 ya con Raúl Cárdenas como entrenador. Además ganó el torneo de Concacaf en 78 y la Copa Interamericana en ese mismo año con la anotación de un golazo. Durante la temporada 78-79, y con una mala campaña de los Cremas, “Pirulete” fue relegado a la banca varias veces y mostró su descontento por ello. La mala temporada americanista dio como resultado la renuncia de Raúl Cárdenas y en la prensa se manejó la falsa información de que había sido Reinoso quien sugirió a sus directivo que el entrenador saliera. Nada más falso que eso, y por lo mismo, para que su imagen quedara tan limpia como siempre, Carlos se retiro, así, de la noche a la mañana después de perder contra los Pumas el 29 de Marzo de 1979 en el Azteca, durante la jornada 27 de la liga. Esa vez, Cárdenas mandó su última alineación con: Zelada; Trejo, Rergis, (Sánchez Galindo), Bravo, Martínez; García, Victorino (Ortega), Dirceu; Reinoso, Manzo, y Gamboa. ¡Quién iba a decir, que también sería el último juego del mejor jugador en la historia del América! From the book, El Libro de Oro del Futbol Mexicano by J. Cid Y mulet, on page 285, there is a picture of America. The photo has a hand written note that reads Equipo 'Mexico'. I am not sure if that picture was taken in Guatemala or when the Guatemalans played in Mexico. There are 12 people in the photograph, and according to the book, your grandfather, P. Sarre is not one of them. However, Triunfos y Tristezas del equipo Tricolor, written by R. Garcia Pimental does state your grandfather as a member of the team

To this day, I still consider Adolfo Rios' performance in the second game of the final as one of the best displays of goalkeeping that I have ever seen.
