Different logo, no Totti, little Italian influence, no passion from the owner (interest is not passion)....but it's okay as long as Roma win? Why not just support Napoli? This team's about as Roma as they are. Consider that the greatest athletic entertainers in history, were Roman, and did their dance in the Colosseum. Consider that the blood, the blood of real, non mythical legends, the athletes and fans of those times, would surely only ever pour themselves into Roma the day fighting is replaced with football. it would be blasphemy otherwise. Roma has been the centre and peak for athletic excellence before. To rip the soul apart of the only club on earth with connections to those great people, is sickening. Roma's the only club on earth who can really say 'more than a club', but even their own fans don't see it. This is definitely, definitely definitely definitely, one of the 5-10 football clubs carrying the last bit of romance the game has. You're not a Roma fan if you're fine with a complete 180 of the club's identity. You just have an interest.
Yeah it's not like Barcelona, Real, Bayern, Juve, Arsenal, Liverpool Inter change their logos every few years or so...the change is barely noticeable. Part 2, well, it's not our fault Totti is 40 is it? Part 3, That's interesting. How does one quantify interest? Does he have to live in Rome, does he have to go on Twitter and show the world his De Rossi pajamas? He's already pumped a bunch of money into the club with our team being the second best in Italy during a time where Juve is absurdly ahead of the curve in many cases. Not enough Italian influence? It's not like we don't chase after these kids, they just choose to sign for Juve. It's like Schrodinger's Italian for you people: "Sign El Shaarawy, he's Italian" and then complain and say: "Yeah well him and Emerson are good but they're not REALLY Italian or good enough" oh and fck romance I want a trophy
Sorry, IMO, the 'Romance" argument is just an excuse for losing and to somehow make it sound great doing so. Totti is 40. He's not the first and won't be the last great player to be shown the door. Again, he's 40 and set to be 41 in Sept. he could no longer contribute in a meaningful way (20 - 30 mins every few games) and was taking a roster spot from someone else. Anybody that watched his last game had to realize he simply can't do it anymore. Like a lot of great athletes he couldn't reconcile himself with that fact. As for gladiators, I don't even know wtf to do with that but if you want to... You do realize that NONE of the gladiators were Roman right. They were all foreigner (slaves) that came from every part of the empire. On on hand you extol greatness of athletes from 2000 years ago all of whom were 'foreigners', on the other hand you complain because now there too many foreigners now. Which is it? Should Roma have more foreigners like 2000 years ago or not? In the end I cannot think of a more ridiculous argument for or against something than, "This is what they did 2000 years ago." OMG don't change the Logo, we can't do that because, well, change is bad. How about the stupid cartoon-sh wolf head logo from the '80s and 90s... was that ok? That didn't even have "ASR" or "ROMA" on it at all. The only thing that changed in the shield was ASR was replaced by ROMA... The horror!!!
If I hadn't seen the new logo I would have thought they've put an eagle on it and made it blue. For the love of God, the logo is fine.
Premier league clubs have sponsorships on their sleeves for f**ks sake and we can't even get one on the front of our shirts? You've gotta be kidding me
Just saw this. Why would it take that long to find a sponsor? Are they waiting for the stadium for an if and when to is built?
It was originally supposed to be a joint stadium/shirt sponsor. Pallotta admitted defeat on that a few years ago, and we have no idea what the deal is since then.
Didn't they just replace the person that is supposed to be responsible for this? Seems like a I read something about this a few months back. It would be nice to have an extra 10-15 mil to spend
Bullshit. This guy was Roman . It's true that many of the early ones were slaves but as time and the profession grew in glamor and status Romans started to compete, even women and emperors like Commodus competed and not all were battles to the death. Anyway just wanted to point out thar Russell Crowe is 100% Roman ...Carry on.

Great thread analysing Roma's finances: As Roma prepare for their Champions League semi-final against Liverpool, I’ve put together an analysis of their finances based on their 2016/17 results, looking at how things have changed under James Pallotta, who became president in August 2012.
