http://www.football-italia.net/91145/official-roma-hire-gandini Gandini official. Filling the Zanzi role. Let us take moment and appreciate what the great man, Zanzi, did for us and our beloved club. @Andreas Put up the ********ing match day thread, slacker.
On a serious note, will we see a difference? And what exactly is Baldini's role now, babysitter for Sabatini?
From a financial perspective I do not think that is a good sign, but I'm sure someone will come and tell me I am wrong.
I don't get warm-fuzzies, but I don't think it's anything new. We've been whoring ourselves out to the Chinese market in particular for a couple years now.
How reliable/steady are Chinese investors anyway? I keep hearing about how China's economy is on the brink of a huge collapse, or is that just from people that have a hard time with China's current status in the world?
I don't see how their economy could be on the brink of collapse with so many people relying on them for production. I hear labor is pretty cheap there too.
Well, it is just another way to raise capital. You can either do so through debt (loans) or through equity (selling shares) in the business. Debt has to be repaid with interest. Equity does not have to be repaid and can be used as general funds. Usually companies try to keep a good debt-to-equity ratio - meaning they try not to put too much debt on the company. It also matters what the costs of debt financing v. equity financing. Higher interest rates make debt less attractive. Selling equity means you are looking for a long term partner who is vested in the success of the company. Pallotta is probably interested in selling equity for two reasons: (1) Cash injection to help fund the stadium without taking on more debt; and (2) capitalize on the valuations of Inter and AC Milan. Inter and Milan have just been sold so there is a market price for Serie A clubs that is much higher than what Pallotta bought Roma for. So he can increase the value of the club by selling equity at a certain valuation.
I was talking about that as being an option for him if the value of the club has gone up smart guy. Why deal with the nonsense he is going through if he can turn a profit by just selling.
He can increase the value of the club astronomically just from a stadium. That's when the big pay off comes in. Selling now would be a small profit at best. He'd be better off investing in some McDonalds chains instead at that point.
I think he is trying to raise capital more than anything else, capitalising on the recent developments. They probably had already scheduled selling equity shares when they are ready to start building and are done with the red tape.
