some reviews I've read sound like the reviewers aren't sure what to make of it ... one even said you shouldn't be surprised if you walk out feeling the same way.

I'm curious but I have this nagging feeling that it's gonna be a disaster. I hope I'm wrong ....

I figure it will be polarizing. With its conceit, you're either going to dig in or you're not.

Is this going to be mass hysteria leads to destruction of NYC by over zealous military? Who is the real monster?

Man, damn Hollywood and their clever marketing campaigns.
When I first saw a trailer for this movie, I thought it was going to be "Godzilla 2", and I'd read online that "Cloverfield" was just a fake name for the movie.
    Can't wait to see it.

Neil Rosen of NY1 said it was terrible.

There's a [R] in the thread title. If you don't want spoilers stay away from the thread.

Mod note: I think it's true that, because of the R, you are free to discuss it in its entirety, spoilers included. However, I ask that you use discretion and tread lightly, using the result function if possible and applicable.

It's past midnight, day of release.

Man, did I dislike this movie. The problem is that I never could get lost in the movie the way it wants you to. I never lost the feeling of watching a movie. I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that the acting stinks. Yeah, it's kinda ridiculous complaining about the acting in a monster movie. But if you're going to try to make it real, it matters a great deal more.

    Great movie.

Wierd that there was no talk of almost all the stuff that I am aware of in the Viral marketing.

    No Jaime Lascano

    No Teddy

    No Tagruato mentioned

    No Slusho

    But I really enjoyed it.

I saw the movie in Atlanta and lets just say I heard murmerings behind me during the "looting" scene. You'd think they could have put one non-black person in there! :D

Wasn't she the drunk girl on the couch?

Justin was wearing a Slusho t-shirt at the party.

    I guess she was.

I just thought after the video cut out it would move on to something.

    Guess not.

These people would be crazy not to make a sequel.

There was some post-credits audio that sounded like "It's Still Alive" :D

    Yeah.

I really hope there is a sequel. They would be crazy not to make one.

I've been following some of the stuff here: http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/index.php?f=232

    But I don't know everything.

I think once everyone gets over the fact that everything is not nice and wrapped up for them they will realize that this really is a great movie.

I think it's a movie that's either love or hate. Either it works for you, and you get into it, or you don't.

The thing that creeps me out from the trailers is the girl that looks like Frodo Baggins.

And every non-looter looks like they stepped out of an Abercrombie and Fitch ad.

I just saw the film and have to say I felt it was excellent. It delivered in terms of suspense. The plot is a simple, but effective vehicle to advance the story. Boy meets girl, boy is moving away and loses girl. Boy rethinks his position and then tries to rescue girl amid all of the destruction.

The monster looks nothing like the creature that was hinted at several sites.

One possible clue of where the monster is from is in the last scene of the home video where you see an object fall into the water off Coney Island. Is this just a ploy to throw people off, or is it actually related to the creature's appearance?
