Question: Was Ted Cruz's conservative dump or Melania's speech equivalent to the Clint Eastwood's Chair moment? Conversely, what was the most positive and defining moment of this convention?
Not sure of the first one, on the plus side: 1) Tim Tebow benefitted his personal brand and managed not to irritate me. 2) And as Timon pointed out in another thread, Cleveland's police, under some much deserved scrutiny over the past year or two, did a pretty good job. We'll see how Philly's force does.
Seems significant that the TV ratings for Trump's speech only barely beat Romney and fell far short of McCain: TV Ratings: Donald Trump's RNC Speech Tops Romney With 31.5 Million Viewers, Falls Far Short of McCain There are still a few adjustments and adds expected on Friday afternoon. To prove to be a bigger draw thanRNC headliners of the recent past, Trump's final tally will need to be higher than 30.3 million to top Mitt Romney in 2012. The candidate already has that in the big. But with nearly 40 million viewers tuning into John McCain in 2008, that showing will not be matched. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/tv-ratings-donald-trumps-rnc-913569 I guess more people today could have watched on social media...
Trump Jr. managed to piss off an awful lot of school teachers, though they have been punching bags for a long time now. "Our schools used to be an elevator to the middle class, now they’re stalled on the ground floor. They’re like Soviet-era department stores that are run for the benefit of the clerks and not the customers, for the teachers and the administrators and not the students."
Yet teh gheys should be banned... http://nypost.com/2016/07/21/male-escorts-are-making-crazy-money-at-the-rnc/ One gigolo who charges $250 an hour said he’s been making about $800 per day since the convention kicked off — all from men visiting from Florida, Louisiana and Washington, DC. When contacted by The Post, females for hire said they’re making much less money than normal.
I gotta hand it to them. At least there's some policy consistency. Even in prostitution they won't give equal pay for equal work ...
I watched it online with about another 1m viewers. And there were many other channels which had the conventions/speeches streamed live. Yes, the TV ratings were similar, but I think overall viewership was likely much higher.
