2000 - England vs Portugal - England lead 2-0 but get overwhelmed by a Figo inspired Portugal who come back to win 3-2.

Holland vs France group game. The dutch come from behind twice vs the French to wrap up the group with a De Boer free kick that rocketed past Fabian Barthez. Kluivert also got on the score sheet. Holland won 3 from 3 in the group phase and set up an encounter with Milosevic's Yugoslavia.

Romania 3-2 England - England lead twice but choke like they would do in their next euro game 4 years later conceding two goals at the death which put Romania through and England out.

Spain vs Yugoslavia -1-0 down, 2-1 down, 3-2 down, Spain were not to be denied and trailed 3-2 heading into stoppage time. Spain equalised yet again through Gaizko Mendietta and pulled of a miraculous stunning fightback with a sublime Alfonso volley in the last minute to earn qualification through to the next phase. 4-2 win for Spain.

Holland vs Italy Semi final - Fresh from ripping the Yugoslavs 6-1 a red hot rampant Dutch team with boisterous home support go into their semi final as strong favourites. Italy were reduced to 10 men on the half hour mark where Zambrotta earned his second yellow, but somehow the Azzurri survive another 90 minutes and 2 failed penalty attempts in regulation to win on a shootout, breaking their recent trend of falling in them.

Euro 2000 Final - France equalise in the last minute of stoppage time, in actual fact it went over the amount given. Sylvain Wiltord striking at the death to save the game and the championship for France after Juventus hit man Alessandro Del Piero squandered two guilt edged chances to wrap up the game for Italy. David Trezeguet scored the golden goal for France securing the title and signed for Juventus in that summer. Pearler of a strike from Trezeguet after Robert Pires mesmerized Italy with silky foot skills.

    Euro 2004

Opening game - One of the great upsets and was to be repeated in the final. Karagounis for Greece strikes to daze the host nation Portugal 7 minutes into the tournament and their lead was doubled into the second half through Basinas from the penalty spot. Ronaldo scored a head in stoppage time but it was too little to late for the much fancied Portuguese.

France vs England - Lampard gives England the lead, Beckham has his shot saved by Barthez which would have sealed the game then Zidane scores a free kick in the 90th minute and Gerrard brings down Henry to hand the French a penalty and Zidane converts with the last kick of the game. 2-1 for France, two goals for Zidane in stoppage time. Ultimate choke job by England.

    France 2-2 Croatia

Zidane scores with a free kick that eludes everyone early on and beats keeper Butina after Igor Tudor deflected it into his own net. Milan Repaic levelled for the croats from the spot and Dado Prso struck minutes later earning the Croats a 2-1 lead. Euro 2000 hero David Trezeguet forced the game on even terms scoring for Les Bleus and Mornar missed a golden chance at the end to win it for Croatia by firing over the bar from close range.

Italy 1-1 Sweden - Cassano gives Italy the lead who waste chances as usual and can't kill off the opposition. Trappatoni goes defensive for the final half hour and pays the price after a brilliant back heel goal rescues a priceless point for the Swede's.

Czech Republic come back from 2-0 down to beat Holland 3-2. Cracker of a game where goals from Koller, Baros who equalised and a superb long range strike from veteran Vladimir Smicer saw the Czechs pull off an improbably come back.

    England 4-2 Croatia

Quarter Final - 83rd minute headed goal from Tottenham reject Postiga cancels out Owens early goal for England. Rui Costa thunderbolts it past David James in extra time but Lampard levels in silver goal time, had it stayed 2-1 to Portugal at the end of the first half of extra time the match would have finished there, the first time in euro history it was introduced. Sol Cambell has a goal controversially ruled out which would have given England a 3-2 lead. Beckham fires over the bar in the first penalty taken in the shootout ,Costa fails for Portugal but Vassell has his shot saved by keeper Ricardo who then finishes the game himself after converting.

Euro 2008 - Holland 3-0 Italy. Sublime play from the dutch and a big upset perhaps in the matter that they thrashed the reigning world champions.

Holland 4-1 France - refer above, only this time world cup runners up.

Croatia 2-1 Germany - DARIO SRNA SCORES FOR CROATIA!!!!! Olic 2-0, Podolski rocket at 2-1 but not enough. Good upset win 10 years after they knocked the more fancied Germans out of France 98 during the quarter final stage.

Turkey 3-2 Czechs - 2-0 down and two late goals wins it for the Turks and puts them to the quarter finals. Had it stayed 2-2 at the end of 90 minutes, we would have seen a penalty shootout to see who advanced. Petr Czech made a howler of an era dropping the ball which conceded the equaliser at 2-2

I'll add it in because it was high scoring I don't think it was a classic match from what I recall. Germany 3-2 Portugal quarter final. Portugal beating the Czech's 3-1 in the group was a good game as was Spain and Villa's stoppage time win vs the Swede's.

Russia 3-1 vs Holland after extra time. Arshavin destroys the dutch who through RVN scored late to force an extra 30 minutes. 2 goals in extra time for Russia capped of a much deserved and memorable win.

Semi Final - Turkey who somehow yet again found a way to win vs Croatia. Ivan Klasnic scored in the 119th minute, only for semi senturk to net with seconds to go and turkey went on to win via spot kicks. Turkey would score for the 4th consecutive game at the death, only for Germany to strike through Phillip Lahm who linked up and finished his own good work during stoppage. 3-2 win for Germany in a see sawing contest.

    Edit

Gerrard back pass in the france game led to Henry gathering the ball and being fouled by David James. Gerrard didn't foul.

Portugal England goals in extra time came in the 2nd half of extra time, not the first.
