Tbh lovern does look like a hot mess in the air or on the ground. I just like the idea of them trying to defend in numbers and allowing Perotti to pick up the ball from deep and start one of his runs.
I don't think that Under should have a starting place if the rest of our attackers are fit for the second leg. He is way too attacking minded, without the benefit of really pressuring their players for long-balls besides Dzeko as Schick does. Don't get me wrong - when Under is on fire, and even when he's not, he seems superior to Schick when it comes to building up attacks and getting in dangerous position, but Liverpool just killed our game plan completely by not letting our players near first balls at all, so we have to remedy than with a stronger attacker if we can. And I wouldn't let El Shaarawy at a starter either. When he has a day, he is unstoppable, but if he happens to have one of his off days, we'd be pretty much playing with one players less in our attacks. His on and offs could be frustrating that way. The second leg is way too important for us to risk betting on those two. And I hope that Florenzi would wise up a bit and stop putting pressure of the opposition teams by making those desperate shots whenever he's out of ideas. Just pass the damn ball - you cannot put a corporeal object straight through a corporeal keeper. Whatever we end up doing - I am just glad and grateful that we've even played at this stage of the competition. But we sill have our chances - Liverpool are a mess after 3/4 of their games. If we keep a decent score line in the meantime, we should be able to make a final push if we need to, and let the chips fall as they may.
Under was out of his depth. What we know about Under is that he has a dangerous shot (although he has been finding row Z a bit lately) and he's a very capable crosser, even with his right foot. The kid however has a lot of improving and proving still to do.
He's also one of only two people in the team willing and capable of beating a defender with the ball at his feet 1v1.
I’d like to say one thing that I don’t think has been mentionned here. Great respect to Salah for his class at showing restraint after scoring two goals in what was likely the biggest game he has ever played. Much respect to him.
Wouldn’t it have been nice if Salah scored 41 goals for Roma? He would have still been in Rome had he accomplished that in Italy.
He would have still been in Rome...you think Lazio would have bought him? Lol He would have been sold only straight to Real Madrid or another big hitter if he scored like that.
Was gonna say the same thing. He'd be at Real Madrid but it would be nice to have the extra couple of players the 100m would have bought.
Under and SES should both come on in the 2nd half and run against tired legs just like vs Barca. Imo the best thing is, we don't need to keep a cleansheet to advance like in the previous rounds. It's a big challange, but I think the team can pull it, if the refeering is at the highest level, as in both Barca games and now agains Liverpool didn't like how they were quite hesitant to whistle legit calls for us. City would've probably advanced in the 2nd game vs Pool, if their 2nd call wasn't wrongly called off!
As dodgy as the call was, Jesus' goal came off a blatant foul on Van Dyke to get the ball and counter. So was all square at the end.
There's still a chance Buffon would somehow get himself appointed as the head of UEFA Referees Committee in the next few days and fair refereeing shall be had by all then - true story!
Not much different to this goal, and after that we let Shahktar have the ball and they could've scored even more in that game. It's risky football that EDF has been putting the team to play in Europe vs clubs with more quality than we have, but who is to say we'd be playing in the semis if not for attacking any team away and at home!
Those ********s from the Italian Federation are just laughable. We play Lazio - a derby the whole o Italy would like to watch at 19:45 GMT - they move it to 11:00 in the morning. We are about to play Liverpool first leg. They start their match in 12:30 PM, we play SPAL at 14:00 instead of 11:00 We are about to play Liverpool again. They have their EPL match in 12:30 once more. We get to have ours vs the mighty Chievo at 17:00... Surely there isn't a more moronic league organization in the world...
Yes, he offers a lot more for most of the game, add SES in in the second half to confuse them even more

It's good that he used percentages this time. Last time he said such a thing, the fickle fans took it out of context and turned it into an insult against the whole fanbase.
