I would call it a smart, mature approach tonight. Tactically extremely sound. EDF has impressed me here. Silly errors are still there. If we want to stand any chance against better teams these need to stop, or at least be greatly limited.

Did Alisson even have to make a save tonight? All that possession in the first half was useless. Think Shaktar had like 3 shots all night. The only moment of scaring was when Ismaily split past Perotti and Gerson and delivered that low driven ball into the box. Di Francesco has us playing conservative in the first half to prevent an early goal away which would have killed us. Eusebio Masterclass IMO.
WE DID IT BOOOIS Shakhtar barely threatened us all match. I could have done without the last 10 minutes, but we are through and that's all that matters. It was so important to do this for many reasons and we did it. Brilliant finish from Dzeko. As long as we can establish a firm grip on third place, I don't think this season will be that bad at all. If I had to choose from that list , I think like most, I’d take Liverpool. Maybe our midfield could do enough to disrupt them, and we could just use our second favourite strategy of going long to bypass their press.
The quarters are dream so regardless of whom we draw I'm ok with our CL season. Let's just on embarrass ourselves and at least look respectable.
I am not that happy we how we played. We defended ok and kept them at bay, I know that is what a lot of people only care about, but with the ball we offered very little. We resorted to long balls and the odd aimless cross for most of that game.
Don't tell that to Fonseca. He insists Shaktar dominated the game. At halftime, I was thinking to myself how solid we were defensively and was convinced we weren't gonna concede. I just worried that we wouldn't find the goal. Then naturally after Dzeko's goal I spent the rest of the match terrified. But thankfully, just an incredible performance. What a night.
