With our luck that lucky garbage goal will end up being the difference. Let's hope Zaniolo comes up with an away goal.
Still disappointed at the result, but this was one of our most solid performances this year. We played a tough opponent and allowed them next to nothing. I want to see us pull this off on the road though. I don’t know about you, but I feel a lot safer with Mirante in goal, I see no reason why he should be dropped for Olsen. He should at least keep his place until he screws up.

but before that he was a pretty damn good player for us. Let's not forget he was 30 when he got the renewal so he was naturally on the down side of his career.
My biggest worry is that EDF tries to sit back and protect the lead. I see little chance of keeping a clean sheet away.
Cristante had a good yesterday, the pass to Pele and the piece of skill before it was world class. I still believe Zaniolo should not play as a winger. The goals and chances he created was when he dropped to the middle. Maybe EDF wanted to play him as a winger cutting in inside but Florenzi didn't support him on the wing as much unlike SES and Kolorav. If Zaniolo plays in the middle then we have Pele or Cris to replace which is also a hard choice.
The standards of this team have dropped so much that people are actually happy with the performance and EDF himself is coming out with comments patting himself on the back and wanting to see more of "the same mentality and fighting spirit". ********ing hell.. I guess we didn't embarrass ourselves so that's always good.
i mean are you surprised? we've talked great ideas and bright futures now for all the years ive been here. the coaches change, the players change, but we never seem to go any further.
Pallotta: "Zaniolo and Pellegrini can be future leaders at Roma". https://t.co/EyA4KUJyQd— RomaPress (@ASRomaPress) February 13, 2019
He started 3 games as RW, away to Atalanta and Viola and home to Porto, and in these 3 he scored 2 and assisted 2. In all of these 4 goals he was occupying a typical RW position so I’m not sure what you are talking about. He dropped deep often, but not in these 4 goals. Under should be back for Bologna so we will see less of Zaniolo on the wing, but for me he more than proved he is a viable option there.
Conceicao: from Football Italia “Our goal leaves everything open for the second leg. I do believe the fair result this evening would’ve been a draw. We have to be more solid defensively at the Dragao and more incisive upfront. We need to make some adjustments, but I am convinced we’ll go through to the quarter-final.” That guy is a fkn idiot
I don't know. Porto is a very good, very well coached team. Roma was one fluke shot away from taking a 2-0 lead into Portugal. It was a good performance. One where you could argue Roma may have even deserved another goal, but certainly one where Roma was the better team on the day. We're a step closer to making the Champions League quarterfinals for the second season in a row. Not only is that not embarrassing, it's a pretty nice standard to set moving forward.
im surprised to see a lot of people complementing Cristante on his performance, i thought he was really soft yesterday. I noticed he's missing some aggressiveness in the big games, anyone else notice that or not at all
They were quite annoying on the pitch too. I'm quite confident we can beat them away too, if we play with the same intensity. Hopefully Under, Karsdorp and Perotti are match fit come 2nd leg.
It is a real worry to see the team sit back and defend a one goal lead. If they push out then there is more gaps to exploit.
Am I the only one who's happy that Roma won? Winning comes hard these days, but a CL win is a win and I'm happy af about it
