According to the post above mine, this thread was. I'm fairly shallow in my ability to focus. I blame GTA. Or GMA. (Man, posting is just like soccer - it's almost never the initial contact that gets whistled, but the retaliation is called every time. Dang!)
Looks like BvB has a real shot getting out of the group this season. Monaco is in a down fall after selling off their best players. Brugge shouldn't pose a challenge.
BVB won with luck and your already selling the skin of the bear before you shot him. Monaco is far better than Brugge, so believing Monaco willnot pose a problem is a bit optimistic.
BvB had 65% possession, 715 passes vs 370, 89% pass accuracy vs 78, 13 shots vs 11. Regardless of the so call 'lucky goal', BvB was the better team today. Monaco is not the same team last year or the year before. They are 15th in League 1, they are flirting with relegation.
1 - He has a new goal celebration. Arm to the eyes? 2 - #23 should have done a lot better with that pass from CP at minute 1:59 3 - Is it just me or he looks bigger/taller?
So he grew into the game. Created the goal off pure hustle. Then had a nice combo with Kagawa centrally to draw a foul. Then beats his mark on the flank, drive thru the middle and plays a good ball which Kagawa bumbles. I didn't see the game but appears he's the threat BVB is regularly missing when not on the pitch. He's active, he attacks, he draws defenders/attention.
That was a great Pulisic move that Kagawa bungled. Imagine if a team surrounded him with a couple finishers.
Not much, seems at this point a lot like 18 year old CP -- good to run at guys in the final 20-30 minutes but not so much polish that he should be starting very often.
You saw it for the brief time he was playing in form with Auba and Dembele. That break that Dembele and CP finished off (can't find the video right now) a couple years ago remains etched in my mind as what he's capable of when paired with similarly skilled attackers.
Still amazing he chose us instead of Croatia. Bless his parents and the Croatian FA for not contacting him
How is it amazing? He's actually American, and is Croatian only because of paperwork. Croatia only became super well-regarded this last World Cup, and Croatia did in fact try to recruit him when they helped him get his EU passport. They pitched him the role, but he turned them down.
