Christian Pulisic on Missing World Cup and Being Compared to World's Best Players https://sports.yahoo.com/christian-pulisic-missing-world-cup-201952088.html The media need to leave this kid alone, and he needs to stop doing so many interviews. He's a young talent, but nowhere near being the best in the world. He got lots to do before he can get there. Don't let the hype get to you, kid. See what it did to Adu, Jozy, Agudelo, Green, etc.? Keep your head down and keep working.
I continue to fail to see what doing a few interviews during his off season has to do with his work ethic at Dortmund.
Do enough interviews, and have people calling you "the best in the world", "greatest American soccer player", etc. etc. and you might actually believe it; and you start to bath in your un-achieved glory. I remember the days when Adu went on MTV, Late Night Shows, Sports Illustrated, etc. Being called the "next Pele", and he probably actually believed he was the next Pele. Hopefully he has a good head on his shoulder, and his dad will help keep him leveled.
He played in almost 100 MLS games in his first four seasons. That seems like regular playing time. Now, if you want to talk about his pro career abroad, that's a different animal.
I just hope he’s mentally prepared at the start of next season no matter where he plays. This block he went thru in 2018 can’t repeat itself at the end of each season.
There are a ton of rumors that Dortmund is going for a winger. I've seen Neres, Rodrygo, Ismail Sarr, Malcolm, and Carlos Eduardo. And I'm not sure where this even came from but I'm seeing a lot of Pulisic for Morata swaps on twitter from fans which doesn't really make sense to me.
Well, most rumours are from news outlets, but this one came from Neres himself, which makes it a bit different.
To be fair he's a starter on the 2nd biggest club in Germany. None of the others come close. His 2.5 years with the club backs up the HYPE. Though, I do admit he is massively over-hyped
Recall that Adu was 14/15 at the time. Folks should have held off on all that until he was at least 18
Well, he's probably going to have a more comfortable chance to develop if Dortmund gets a winger to start in his place. I wouldn't be surprised, he had his shot in the 17/18 season and didn't live up to expectation. It's not a tragedy, but it means it's not unlikely he'll have to settle for a secondary role for a while.
They have a tutorial on how to use the ignore option somewhere, I bet. The only way to make these forums tolerable is to put most people on that list. Goodbye.
They buy kids in the 10-25 million range and sell them for 40-80 million. A pretty good business model.
If they're willing to spend 30-60M for a young winger, it might be a sign that Pulisic is on the way out. Their winger options right now are: Pulisic, Phillip, Sancho, Schurlle, Yarmo, and Reus. That's a lot of freaking wingers, and you can only play 2 at a time.
Take out Schürrle and Reus, they've been deployed centrally mostly, and their primary position as this point is not wingers. Four wingers is pretty standard, so if they get a new one they'll have to sell one of them. My bet is one of the older ones, Yarmo or Philipp.
