Listening to someone speak it is like listening to someone read an entire English sentence in reverse. I'm blown away by how quickly guys like CP picked up on it.
for anyone who is bored person. Here's a way to spend 2 hours of your time. spoiler alert game ends up 2-2.
I’m told Bayern Munich is finalizing the transfer of #USMNT U-20 defender Chris Richards from FC Dallas. The Alabama-born centerback has impressed on loan with Bayern’s U-19s, and is coming off a good showing at the Concacaf Championships. As far as partnerships go, this one between FCD and Bayern looks to be like the real deal. Glad FCD got something for him and glad that he is working his way up there.
How do we feel about 1.25m if that's accurate? Not enough? Just right? Decent for a kid who's never played a minute of USL or MLS action?
If that's accurate, it seems pretty spot on to me. I believe we discussed earlier in the thread a figure of around a million if Bayern were to purchase him.
Just about right. I'd say completely satisfied. And what a deal for FCD. They just got $1.25 for a player who wasn't yet eligible to play for their first team. Perhaps they should throw a cookie over to the Texans.
Awesome. Good for him. It will be interesting to see if he can break into the 1st team at some point.
That 1.25 million goes a long way. That's a nice upgrade to the training facility, or a large chunk of the funding, if not all of it, to get that USL team going. All for a guy who hadn't played a minute for them, and they'll get 100% of the fee.
First MLS kid to be sold straight from the academy. Weston McKennie, meet Chris Richards (hopefully in the DFB Pokal).
Seems odd to me that a Bayern sees what's there but in the MLS he wasn't 'qualified' to play? Not being the MLS expert, why was he not eligible to see the pitch?
My understanding is that a non-academy player must play for the academy for a year before being eligible to play for the MLS team. Richards hadn't been at FCD long enough to qualify for that so he was ruled ineligible for this MLS season. Instead of him playing U-19 ball or trying to find him a USL loan they sent him to BM and worked out a buy clause. So BM got an extended look, before committing. FCD got their player playing at the best possible level he could right now, with fee already agreed. Richards got a chance to make his case to a European giant and tryout Germany to see if he could adapt and prove good enough. Seems everyone is happy with this deal and rumors already abound about doing the same with Thomas Roberts this summer.
13th highest paid transfer fee ever for an American out of MLS and the highest for an American since Miazga 7 transfer windows ago. For a kid who never stepped on an MLS field. So they should be poppin' bottles with models.
this is going to put a lot of pressure on mls clubs, so in a sense epb situation mightve been a warning to a lot of young players and now the league must scramble to avoid that.
