Wow Huang Bowen is omitted? That is quite surprising considering the midfield has always had problems going forward.

    FT China 4-2 T&T

Goals from Jiang Ning, Zhang Yuning (x2), and Hu Rentian

    Some notes from the game:

-Zhang Yuning had a decent debut with two goals (pretty sure second one was offside). First goal was a nice looping header from a set piece routine. Second goal was a poacher's goal. His strengths seem to lie with his heading and aerial ability, oftentimes winning headers from long balls from the keeper. However, he seriously needs to work on his passing and touches. It'll be interesting to see if Gao Hongbo starts him against Kyrgyzstan

-Our passing looks the best it has ever been for a long, long time. Many chances were created through quick passing.

-Although we look the most dangerous on set pieces, we also concede too many set pieces/headed goals as well.

-We REALLY need to work on 1v1 chances. The scoreline was actually very nice towards T&T. It seems the only goals we can score a headers, lucky chance goals, or screamers.

Overall a very pleasing performance. 8/10.

Gao Lin two assists, for the first two goals. He is finally being used in the right way under Coach Gao Hongbo.

CFA sets the last training session before the World Cup qualifiers from 31 July to 6 August in Kunming and announces the 29-man squad.

    Player list:

Beijing Guo'an: Yang Zhi, Yu Dabao, Zhang Xizhe

Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao: Feng Xiaoting, Gao Lin, Huang Bowen, Li Xuepeng, Yu Hanchao, Zeng Cheng, Zhang Linpeng, Zheng Zhi

    Guangzhou R&F: Jiang Zhipeng

Hebei China Fortune: Ding Haifeng, Du Wei, Jiang Ning, Jin Yangyang

Jiangsu Suning: Gu Chao, Li Ang, Ren Hang, Wu Xi, Zhang Xiaobin

Shandong Luneng: Hao Junmin, Liu Binbin, Zhao Mingjian

Shanghai SIPG: Cai Huikang, Wu Lei, Yan Junling, Yu Hai

    Tianjin Quanjian: Sun Ke

Most notable inclusion is the return of captain Zheng Zhi and former captain Du Wei

Thoughts on who should and shouldn't be here? For me I don't understand recalling Du Wei. For me there is already a surplus of centerbacks in the squad with Feng Xiaoting, Zhang Linpeng, Jin Yangyang, Li Ang, and Ren Hang. I would've liked to see Ji Xiang instead. Nice to see some youngsters in Zhang Xiaobin and Jin Yangyang though

I would have taken Ji Xiang instead of Yu Hai or Sun Ke. He has been assisting many goals this season and putting in a few himself. Not sure why he is being overlooked

For anybody living in China, is the country getting behind the national team for the qualifiers?

Disagree. Watching Euro and S.American Nat.s and Club teams on TV is popular, China Super League less so, but the National team, sadly, is mocked and reviled by many Chinese because of the poor results over the years. In the most recent WCQ round China were almost eliminated because they could not beat Hong Kong TWICE! (0-0 x2) and were only saved by the Philippines who, out of nowhere, scored two late goals to eliminate North Korea 3-2 and send China through into this final round.

A point against ROK would be a miracle, barring that, at least a decent defeat with hopefully a consolation goal.

SK just scored off a free kick right outside the box. Looks like a Ji Dongwon header deflected into the net by Zheng Zhi.

Wu Lei has been ineffective.. snatched at a couple of decent chances now, completely off target.

    Half time 1-0 South Korea.

South Korea have the overall advantage, but a combination of China's defense (except for that foul that led to the goal) and South Korea's failure to convert more chances kept it at 1-0.

China still has chance to get back into this, but it's not easy. They need to improve on their attack - Wu Lei alone can't do the job, but if they attack more they'll expose their own defense. But decent performance so far, no big surprises.
