I'm not sure if this is of any interest to anyone here, but here's a bit of trivia:

Alexis Sanchez is the second Chilean player in history to score in an FA Cup Final. The first was George Robledo in 1952 when Newcastle United defeated Arsenal 1-0.

The only worry that I have right now is that there are only a few minutes left in the final, and Sanchez is still on the field. Aston Villa players are hitting hard.

 

He has just been taken off. One goal and one assist. To my knowledge, no injuries.

 

More trivia:

When John Lennon was eleven years old, he drew a collection of pictures. One of these pictures sees George Robledo scoring the winner in the mentioned FA Cup Final with a header. The picture was used as part of the album cover for his 1974 album, Walls and Bridges.

 

Another interesting statistic for Sanchez after his goal in the FA Cup win: he is the first player at the club since Dennis Bergkamp (in 1997-98) to end the season as the team's top scorer in all four competitions in England's top tier.

I know that some of us don't give two cents about his achievements at Arsenal, and that is fair enough. But, it is good to see him do well after last season's exit from Barcelona. It's natural that we want him to be at a top 4 or 5 European club, but the positive is that he is at a club that values his talent. He was unlucky to find himself at a Barcelona that simply lost the killer instinct and motivation to win big things after being at the top for so long. This is why Guardiola left: key players went soft and key veterans were past their prime (Puyol and Xavi).

The important thing is that, mentally, Sanchez is in a good place; good for morale and good for Chile, which is entering a final chapter with this current generation.

Sánchez llega al Arsenal y obtienen más menos los mismos resultados de siempre, entre tercero y cuarto de la Premier. Si se les abre el cuadro alguna final de Copa.

Se sobrevalora mucho a Alexis acá en Chile. Hasta que pruebe que puede ser exitoso en un club de la élite europea como han hecho Arturo Vidal y Claudio Bravo, tengo mis reservas sobre su real valía. Lo que hizo hoy empata a Beausejour. Ya sé que no jugó la final, pero fríamente es así.

 

No, no es así. Le echas la culpa a Alexis, cuando fue uno de los pocos que se salvó en el "mal" momento del Barca. Le tocó a Alexis, pero Suarez, Neymar y Messi dejarian mal a cualquier jugador, Ibrahimovic, Rooney, Muller etc. Nadie dudaria de la calidad de estos jugadores.

Ahora si el único criterio para medir un jugador es el número de títulos, claro, empató a Beausejour. Afortunadamente nadie mide el valor o calidad de un jugador así.

Bien Alexis, ha mejorado enormemente su definición. Que siga así en la Copa America y pelee la tabla de goleadores.

 

Ganar la FA Cup es bueno, pero no debería conformarse con eso. Ojala le hagan la pelea al Chelsea y lleguen mas lejos en la Champions el proximo año.
