To be fair, I think you've raised a very good point. The German football federation began investing money into German football around the year 2000 with the idea of being as competitive as possible at the highest level. Since then, they have been fiercely competitive in world cups (2nd in 2002, 3rd in 2006 & 3rd in 2010) and UEFA Champion's League football.

What's more is that, right now, they appear to have peaked in terms of talent, if one looks at the last twelve years. The current team is stacked with quality. Also, many of the players you mentioned are not in the first eleven for Germany; incredible, really.

Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund's dominance in Europe last year at club level also highlights this point.

Whether they are the number one team in the world will be seen next year. If they can replicate the form and the energy of the two mentioned German clubs, they will be tough to beat.

How many times have we seen someone score a goal like Hulk's against Chile?

And someone explain to me how Robinho always seems to score against us? If Ronaldo, the phenomenon, Rivaldo or Ronaldinho had scored 9 goals against us during their careers, I could accept that. But, Robinho?!

It must be because he really doesn't like the red shirt.

I don't have an issue with you thinking that Germany produces better players. But I don't think we've necessarily done bad ourselves since 2010...

Neymar, Oscar, Coutinho, Willian, Marquinhos, Lucas Moura, Bernard, David Luiz, Paulinho, Rafael, Hulk (wasn't in 2010 Cup), Marcelo (wasn't in 2010 Cup), Sandro, etc...

In any event, it's a good sign that Chile can be competitive with the 'top' sides. They'll be a force to deal with in next year's Cup as long as they can maintain their level of play since Sampaoli has taken over. And I do honestly believe that SA sides will have an advantage because the Cup is being played on SA soil.

Robinho hates Chile since September 2008, when some of our players and the "pasquín"(is not a newspaper for me) "La Cuarta" said some negative things about Brazil that he didn't like, like "La Roja les va a enseñar a bailar el "Koala"" and another things like that:rolleyes:
He said that the Chilean players didn't respect Brazil.

That moron (Robinho) is out to lunch. Chilean players respect too much Brazil. Probably Sampaoli does too.

if i remember right the paper didn't even say anything particularly negative, they just had the front page before the game saying something like 'we're going to teach them how to dance the koala or samba' or something. The Brazilian team had that on the board for motivation, and after they bea us (4-1 i think) Robinho wrote on the wall of the dressing room that "a la mejor seleccion del mundo se le respeta"....

nothing to do with the players or the team. And in any event, he's been killing us since waaay before that. Some players just match up well against certain goalies and certain styles of play

I was gonna say, 'Binho has been ripping us a new one everytime since well before that fateful day in 2008. That incident maybe just stoked his fire a bit more.

Damn you, Scolari (for playing him!) :D
