Chicago Eclipse and CRS schedule is out. http://www.wpsl.info/schedule/index.php?home_division=All Still not much info about the WLS (former WMLS) http://www.womensleaguesoccer.com/#
Eclipse Select (Libertyville) http://www.wpsl.info/team/indexs.php?tid=100 Chicago Red Stars (Lisle) http://www.wpsl.info/team/indexs.php?tid=124 Did the WLS (WMLS) already go out of business?
As far as I can tell, no - one of the three games from this past weekend is accounted for in the standings. It wasn't the Breeze's game, though. And the game that is accounted for isn't listed in the "schedule" at bottom left, nor is there a news story for it, so...
Maybe because FCI got pasted 11-0 by Fort Wayne? Might be the biggest reason there's not much on the game. This after FCI was beaten quite comprehensively 3-0 in the WPSL the night before by Fort Wayne FC (not the same organization as the WLS team).
Today both Chicago teams play. I may try to go the the Eclipse game. June 16: Eclipse Select vs Madison 56ers (HOME at Oak Brook Polo Fields) 6:30pm http://www.eclipseselect.org/WPSL.php
I would love to go to the Red Stars games but I cannot make it on the week day when the game is at 4:30. I'm hoping to make it to the July 2nd game and am trying to convince some of the old gang that used to go to the Red Stars games last year when they were in the WPS, to go with me.
next two options well next home option is 6/29 (6/22 away in madison) and some special guest in attendance... saw tweet today. its a Supporters Club game so not published location -- 6pm i think ... then a road trip to milwaukee 6/30 that could be fun for 7pm game... mrad hoping to see you and ratdog at the games.
Re: next two options You will def see me at least a couple of times. I talked to ratdog and a couple of others who were regulars last year and said they are going. BTW, sisyphus, did you know that the Red Stars are last year's Chicago Beach Soccer Women's Open Champion? I believe Shannon McDonell played on that team last year. You guys have to defend your title this year! http://www.chicagobeachsoccer.com/ Here are some pictures from last year: http://www.chicagobeachsoccer.com/#!2010-results/photostackergallery7=12 Oh, and BTW, could that special guest be a former CRS forward who now plays for a controversial owner in South Florida who sells a VoIP telephone contraption. Maybe EM? Just guessing.
Red Stars must win tonight to stay in WPSL Midwest - North Division title race. http://www.wpsl.info/team/indexn.php?tid=124&id= Go Red Stars!
Looks like the CRS will make the playoffs, they are up 2-0 right now and in first place. The Eclipse is not doing so well http://www.wpsl.info/standings/
Trying to watch the semis via the stream, but it's not working for me. EDIT: Probably because I forgot that the game times are Central Time. See you in an hour!
I was hot! I could only stay for the first game, had to pick someone at the airport, I am glad the CRS won, so I will be able to see them tomorrow. Waves vs Red Stars Kind of wonder why there is not 3rd place game, I mean the teams are here already. I wonder if they flew or drove back today.
That is kind of odd. The W-League has always had a consolation match. It seems rather unkind to have two teams show up to play just the one match considering what it takes to get them there.
4 sure, the website does not show 1, My ticket is only for the final at 1 pm central time. Maybe the two losing teams should at least play a friendly in the morning. I mean if they flew in, I do not think they would change their tickets for an earlier flight, so they probably still around.
I asked some boston players after they lost if they were playing in a 3rd place game and they said no.
Well the Red Stars lost, but congratulations to them for making the final and giving us a pretty good game.
re: the consolation game. the final four coaches were asked beforehand if they wanted one and they didn't. part of it is you have to consider the college players -- most of whom are returning this week. Back to back games when the second one doesn't really matter is risky and teams have an obligation to get players back to college healthy. but for some teams too this trip to chicago is a reward for good season and they took advantage of the extra day and did some sightseeing but consolation was offered and no interest.
