Just finished "Fear," the Bob Woodward book. He was unflinchingly fair in it . Told the story as told to him, the good and the bad. That said, the bad just reconfirms the unfitness of the man for the office. November needs to come fast.
I had one credit in my Amazon account for a free Audible book and I used it on Fear. I have about 75 minutes left and will finish it after my afternoon meeting today. You can tell who Woodward got a lot of his background from. Gary Cohn, Reince Priebus and Rob Porter. I don't remember anything on Porter's departure and the reasons why being included in the book. (Edit: it's in the second to last chapter of the book) The 3 biggest things in the book for me are 1) Trump's inexplicable position on South Korea, 2) The scene at the Pentagon where Mattis, Tllerson and the rest of the competent staff try to educate Trump about the world and the U.S.'s place in it, and, though smaller, 3) how easily Trump lied to Turnbull about Australian steel.
If you are waiting until "after" the meeting, you should try buying smaller ear buds. That way, you could listen "during" the meeting. Multi-tasking! I am thinking about listening to it as an audiobook. I think actually reading it would depress me too much.
The last chapter which focused on Dowd was jarring. I understand that Dowd is a lawyer but he really seemed to be of two minds, that there was no evidence of obstruction or collusion AND that Trump is a compulsive liar. And, I don't think Dowd had any idea what other evidence Mueller had uncovered or what someone like Flynn and now Cohen and Manafort could have provided.

Gotta laugh at the justice. Paul Gosar, a Congressman from NW Arizona has just had six of his siblings do commercials endorsing his Democratic opponent. I know Paul. Gotta say, he's a great guy to sit and have a beer with and talk baseball. However, if it turns to politics, the full blown looney comes out. These ads are priceless.

So, I'm familiar with democracy, oligarchy, plutocracy, even crypto-fascist kleptocracy. What's the word for government by rapists?
A Rap(e)bulic Run by the 2016-2018 Republican Party a/k/a Rap(e)ublicans? (I am sorry. I find this so horrible that it really is not and SHOULD NOT be partisan. If Trump and Kavanaugh were Democrats, I would be even more disgusted and I would want them dropped immediately. I guess it is partisan, but only one way.)

Ode to Jason Klan Dyke: Princess on the steeple and all the Pretty people they're all drinkin', thinkin' that they Got it made Exchanging all precious gifts But you'd better Take your diamond ring You'd better pawn it, babe You used to be So amused At Napoleon in rags And the language that he used Go to him now He calls you You can't refuse When you ain't got nothin' You got Nothin' to lose You're invisible now You got no secrets To conceal How does it feel?
There's only two things I hate in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch.
It hasn't been posted in this thread, but for those of you who don't know him, I would like to introduce you to the awesomeness of Randy Rainbow. A couple of his recent hits: His best: and, an older, but good, one His motto: Because when they go low, we go Lerner and Loewe.
Well, let's begin to mitigate the damage and start to fix the mess on Tuesday. Restore some balance and sanity to Congress. Get rid of the racists (Steve King, etc.), sycophants (Devin Nunes, etc.), traitors (Dana Rorbacher, etc.) and all-around assholes (Ted Cruz, etc.) and replace them with people who can actually formulate thoughts and attempt to pass bills. Prior to 2016, I had never made a political campaign donation in my life. After the Brett Kavanaugh debacle, I contributed to the opponent of every single Republican who voted for Kavanaugh and who was running for reelection. It was a small thing, but one of the few things I could do.
