Big win in the EPL to get back on track. Just got to worry about ourselves. We control our own destiny.
yea, that was a much needed win. we still looked shaky. REALLY shaky at times. but grinding out results and getting late goals gives the team confidence that when things aren't going you way you can turn it around.
Great Win. I was telling my mates earlier today that if we get through this and the Everton match with 4 points the title is ours. A draw or preferably a Win Away to Everton and I will be dreaming about the double!
Soton are a good team and they came at us. Those corners were ridiculous. Fantastic goal for Costa, that second one.
Honestly, in this case, it was bad bounces. There were 4 players standing near the goal and the shot from Gabbiadini deflected to Romeu perfectly. Similarly, Bertrand executes a back header perfectly into the corner one out of 25 times. It happens. Our shot denial is still very good - 4 shots on target allowed.
bertrand header actually came off cahill just ever so slightly. i noticed on the slow motion replay. though i'm not sure if it was off target or not, it was a light touch.
Good win but we do make it difficult on ourselves. We are still iffy at defending set pieces. Just not organized or decisive. The bigger concern though are all the soft could we give up around the box. We don't yield many good chances from open play, we are far more exposed during set pieces so soft free kicks can really hurt. Good effort going forward and great for Costa to score, he badly needed that. But Moses really needs to beat the first man more consistently. Such a constant source of attacks breaking down. We are going to suffer plenty before this is all wrapped up. Very few easy games at this end of the season even from teams with little to play for, they can often just relax and play their game whilst we will continue to be a little stiff given how huge every goal could be. Hopefully palace will continue their fine form against the top teams!
I would totally agree if this were an isolated case but it seems to be happening quite frequently of late. A bad bounce here or deflection there and we havent kept a clean sheet since when?
Exactly. They were all over us and I wasn't really surprised that they scored because he were bypassing our backline pretty easily. Our ability to not hold the ball is really infuriating.
Good result, Southampton are close to being a very good team, our inability to keep a clean sheet is not good though, we gotta tighten up we can't expect to have to score 3 or more goals every game to win.
