We have a deep history. I think we need a place to celebrate it. I love seeing old shots of players, the ground, etc. Starting off with this image of Stamford Bridge in 1980.
The highest official attendance for a game at Stamford Bridge is 82,905 for the visit of Arsenal in October 1935. But on November 13, 1945 well over 100,000 turned up to watch a friendly match against the Russian side Dynamo Moscow. . .
FWIW, I made a start on this a few years back but stalled out. I will try and pick this up again soon. http://forums.bigsoccer.com/threads/the-history-of-chelsea-football-club.741002/
This game was the turning point in the "modern" history of Chelsea Football club - the second half of this game We won the FA Cup this season our first trophy in 26 years. . .the rest is history.
Mottys commentary still sends shivers down the spine. I think I even wrote a Chronicle about it back in the day My goto youtube video if I need cheering up. I've watched it approximately 32 times this season........
That was my first season following from over in the US. Would get the occasional game on TV and had to supplement via AOL dial-up. I was partial to this celebration from Di Matteo back then. Broke it out after scoring and somehow did not get kicked for it.
It was a great game. Pivotal. From that win to winning the FA Cup and the players in that team and their level of commitment - Zola, Hughes, Vialli, DiMatteo. Who would have thought then that DiMatteo would be our manager when we would win that great European trophy - the trophy that Vialli once described as being "the cup with big ears". The FA Cup win that 1997 season was out first trophy in 26 years . . .or was it I'd settle for that scoreline on Sunday
My favorite Chelsea game ever happened today in 2005 (sorry for the music). Even during the 2012 Champions League run I dont think I had more tense moments or screamed louder than during this game. It is one of the few games I have saved so that I can watch it again.
This is one of my favorite games. That along with the CL game against Arsenal (We arrived). But this one, man, this happened a decade ago already?
A great match to get excited for tomorrow's match. -protectionless Cech -that Duff goal on the break. So much speed. -I tend to forget how dominant Lampard was during his peak years. He was unbelievable. -Joe Cole
THE game. The tension was so high. I hate the words "onion bag" from that douche commentator who supported Liverpool. The tension for the game was sky high. We were great. Weird that we signed Deco and Belletti from Barca after this. . .we have a whole history of signing Barca rejects. But this game . . .after this game the feeling was warm and fuzzy for some time. Ronaldinho was amazing. We would have won by a lot more if Drogba was fit Terry defined himself as the heart and soul of this team. That goal. 4-2. Scousers. scousers make me want to vomit. We should have won the Champions League this season - this was our great team. Lampard, Terry, Drogba, Cole, Eidur, Duff, etc, etc.
