Normally I'd say yes, ignore them. But due to the current cancer in the White House they estimated the Nazi crowd at close to 1,000 today. Being a Nazi isn't embarrassing as it once was. Therefore the more Old Navy dad look at these rallies. It's not Bubba & a few friends at the county courthouse with some Confederate flags and a bullhorn any more.

President Obama was expected to disavow the words and deeds of militant black groups. He was forced to speak against his own (or former?) church leader.

I don't expect any soul searching from the hard right crowd, or from the Trump family, but to the extent that decent people still vote and support Republicans, they should expect Donald Trump to speak out against the hard-right element. Just as they expected President Obama to stand up against the extreme edge of his supporters.

But that's not going to happen, will it?

We ALL must be united & condemn all that hate stands for. There is no place for this kind of violence in America. Lets come together as one.

Paul Ryan has denounced it, as has Justin Amish and a few others.

Personally, I'd like to see one do so while using the word "Deplorable," but that won't happen since it would acknowledge that Clinton was right.

The President isn't gonna denounce the actions of his most loyal base.

After his Veteran's signing bill he was walking off and reporters shouted out if he wanted the support of white nationalists and if it was an act of domestic terrorism. He ignored them & kept shuffling off like the beaten old Nixon ghost that he is.

Well that's halfway there. The real point is there is no place for that kind of sentiment, but I confess that is more than I expected.

More than all that, armed "militia" showed up to "protect" the alt-right protesters.

    We're beyond cosplaying LARP'ers...

It's possible, of course, that Trump's actual thumbs never touched those letters, and that a staffer made the tweet.

I like how "hate" is on the hook, but not racists doing the hating. It's almost like he wanted a tweet that could be read as denouncing the counter-protesters.

Trump can't say derogatory things about white nationists or the KKK like he can't say bad things about Putin.

Pundit made good point that the torchlight Nuremberg rally on the UVA campus last nite fired up the Nazis & laid the groundwork for the mess that we witnessed today.

Man interviewed on street "It was a terrorist attack. Someone has died today for the white nationalist cause in America."

In the "a busted clock is right twice a day" column, here's Colorado Senator Cory Gardner, who is usually wrong, but got it right this time, even if his fellow GOP cohorts on the Hill haven't:

It's hard to take this seriously while they are culturally appropriating the Tiki Torch from Polynesians.

In just a few years I've seen the Tea Party, Flaggers, KKK and other white nationalists/supremacists use the Charlottesville area to shape state politics. ******** them all. Virginia has plenty of assholes and jackasses, but I wonder how many of these people are actually from the Commonwealth. The primary KKK chapter (I have no idea what they call themselves) was from the hometown of one of my grandmother's in North Carolina. Corey Stewart is originally from Minnesota. Having said that, the racist militia that many thought was the National Guard is all Virginia. A ********ing armed militia with racist patches is easily confused with the National Guard.

I began this post shortly after the thread was started and deleted most of it.

Regarding the tweets from POTUS... that was one of the most thoughtful tweets ever from him. He didn't take a side in the tweet or his later statements. That's ********ing disgusting.

The Nuremberg Torch Store was closed today. Apparently Bed, Bath & Beyond (an aside - I once worked with one of the owner's sons back in college before they went national) was their only option.

But that's actually irrelevant here. Reducing liability has nothing to do with someone committing assault with a deadly weapon by intentionally driving into a crowd with intent to kill.
